Low idiling no power

Hi guys I have a 1998 1.8T non quatro automatic transmission, the car act like choking when I push the gas to start from a dead stop; take speed very slowly like a 900cc engine , but once the car get in motion , lets say 20 or 30 mph it will accelerate normally untill I stop and start over again the transmission seam to shift right, I notice the car idile a litle low ; about 400 RPM and if I turn on the AC and try to start from a dead stop the car the engine will stall and then is really hard to start, like the old carburator type engine, I have to push the gas pedal to the floor and keep it there untill finnally the engine will start running; please help!!

Similar thing happened to me, but it ended up being a clutch on its last legs....Since you have an automatic, I'd guess its your Mass Air Flow sensor or throttlr body.

Do you have a check engine light? If so, go to an auto parts store and have them scan for a code.

My 1995 honda passport 4x4 looses power and revs up even if i push the gas to the floor it slows down

If it has a manual transmission, your clutch is worn all the way down. If it is an automatic transmission, your transmission needs repair, or is low on fluid.

your catalytic converter may be clogged, if it is bolted on loosen the bolts and pry it away then try to start. if the power returns then you need to replace the catalytic converter. also is it an automatic or standard transmission? If automatic the torque converter is stalling at to low of rpm and needs to be replaced.

When I push the gas pedal the car doesn't go but just revs and the RPMs go up then after a while the car jerks and starts to go. It's an automatic. What's wrong with it?

hi.
it sounds like the transmission fluid could be low.
there should be a dipstick or a level plug for the transmission fluid on the front of the gearbox.
if the level is low, top it up with the automatic transmission fluid.

if the level is ok then it may just need changing, or there could be an internal fault in the gearbox.
a mechanic would have to actually see the car to advise you further

1975 Datsun (ie. mechanical fuel pump). Carburettor, electrics (inc. battery all good) fuel strainer all good. On cold start engine needs to be cranked several times. Warm start is invariably immediate. ...

Carburated vehicles ether have an automatic choke, or the very old ones, a hand choke. Yours has an automatic choke. The starting problem likely is a problem with the choke. The problem is almost certainly not the fuel pump.To set the automatic choke, push the accelerator to the floor, and RELEASE. Then start the engine just like you would a fuel injected vehicle. If this doesn't solve the problem, then the automatic choke needs to be repaired.

We have a 1999 Audi A4 Quatro that has recently started acting up. It starts up but it seems that the transmission will not work correctly. You put it in gear and the RPM goes up but the car does not go....

First check the transmission fluid with the engine at an idle (for automatic transmissions) and take note that there is a cold and hot level on the dipstick. Hope this helps. Good luck

hi there, no you are not going to need a new transmission. what is happening is probably one or two things. the transmission fluid is low or the transmission control solenoid is acting up. good luck and appreciate your question
