Check the brakes (all four wheels) you may have a sticking caliper or wheel cylinder. Also (regarding the shimmy) check tie-rod ends, inner and outer, stabilizer bar bushings. You can do this by lifting the vehicle holding the tire on either side and wiggle it. Any kind of play usually indicates worn tie rods. Grasping the wheel on top and bottom and noticing a wiggle indicates a bad wheel bearing (but a bad wheel bearing usually makes a humming noise when rolling. Also have the ball joints checked. Hope this helps.

PS: This can also be caused by a bad tire! But given the age of the vehicle, I would check all of the above.

Sluggish Acceleration

A high mileage vehicle usually suffers from any number of maintenance related deficiencies. I would address the Fuel filter maintenance first. It's the cheapest and easiest of the solutions. Lack of fuel pressure under higher demand due to acceleration will result in a sluggish engine. The engine would idle fine and even run fine at high speed but would be sluggish under acceleration. Other more complecated solutions would be worn Ignition coils, Worn spark plugs, Timing belt stretched or jumped timing and the most expensive would be loss of compression in the cyllinders.

Try changing the fuel filter. If it's been there awhile it's probably starting to clog and won't be able to flow enough fuel for the heavier demands the car has when going uphill or trying to accelerate hard.

First thing to do is change the fuel filter, spark plug wires, spark plugs, and air filter. If this does not solve the problem then I would have the fuel injection system cleaned out and also change the oxygen sensor
