Question about 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
When I start to accelerate the car shimmies and is sluggish. Once up to speed it seems fine. It is also an intermitant problem.
Check the brakes (all four wheels) you may have a sticking caliper or wheel cylinder. Also (regarding the shimmy) check tie-rod ends, inner and outer, stabilizer bar bushings. You can do this by lifting the vehicle holding the tire on either side and wiggle it. Any kind of play usually indicates worn tie rods. Grasping the wheel on top and bottom and noticing a wiggle indicates a bad wheel bearing (but a bad wheel bearing usually makes a humming noise when rolling. Also have the ball joints checked. Hope this helps.
