The rear door will not stay closed. When I operate the latch mechanism in the door manually (move it to the closed position) I can move it back open without pulling on the door handle. The other side locks in place.

My 1986 Mercedes 500SL (euro Model) develops a hesitation problem after it's been driven for about 35 miles. It feels like a clogged fuel filter, but it's not. It doesn't happen all the time, so the shop can't diagnose it. I left it with them for 2 weeks and it didn't happen during that time. Also, the temp gauge goes nuts at about the same time, so it may be connected. The gauge goes to a very high temp, but comes back to normal when I step on the brakes. As I let up on the brakes, the temp goes high again. The engine is not overheating...the gauge is wrong.

the front seal between the windscreen and the hardtop on our 1984 380SL hardtop has to be replaced, I have the new seal and measured it against the old seal while it was still in place on the hardtop. I removed the old seal and I have been unable to make the new seal or even the old seal fit in place. The seals are both identical length and are the correct length when dry fitted. When the seal is installed it stretches somehow and ends up an inch too long on each end? This is driving me crazy. What is the correct procedure to instal this seal so it does not stretch during insatllation?
