Question about 1993 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

A/C air flow problem

I've taken my '93 pontiac bonneville in to serveral different shops and they all have said that there is nothing wrong with my a/c, but when my car sits in the sun for several hours on a 85 degree day and I turn on my a/c it doesn't cool down my car at all. The air feels lukewarm, and doesn't really blow alot of air out even on the highest setting.... Please help!

AC works as so..

It does not actually cool the air, however it removes the heat from it (and without heat the air feels cool). As the air is blown around the car the AC system removes the heat from the air, and then it moves it to the condenser at the front of the car (infront of the radiator).

Now usually the car is moving forward, so that air flow will cool the condenser and then you can move more heat from the air inside the car and push it out the front of the car again. This is why, if you have a front wheel drive car, you will hear the cars fan start as soon as you turn the AC on.

Also the car will be much better at cooling the air that is recirculating inside the car (your a/c system will have a button for this) then if it tries to cool hot air from outside.

The long and short of it is that if you hop in a hot car, start the car and run the ac (even at full) it wont be cool straight away, it is mostly influenced by how much you are driving forward.

Try this. Start the car, turn the AC to recirculate the air, turn the AC on and go for a drive for 10 mins, pull over and wind down the window. Compare the outside air to the inside air, then you will see the difference.

My 93 pontiac bonneville will start sometimes and wont most of the time

Next time it does this have can of starting fluid handy, spray it into the air intake hose and see if it starts, if it does and dies out the fuel pump is defective.

Service Engine soon light on on 93 Pont Bonneville. 1) disconnected battery for 5 minutes & light goes off 2) New Gas Cap and light gors off on 2nd occasion. Please advise what other steps can be...

A 1993 pontiac wouldnt know if the gas cap was on or off. You cant fix it untill you know why the light is on. You need the computer scanned and a trouble code to go further., plus what engine you have (8th VIN number)

Hello: Check in or under the black box that holds the air filter for the engine, there should be a large cable full of wires going to it.

My car runs like it is running out of gas bought car used what should i check 1st

check the cat converter first, if it gets much worse as it heats up, otherwise maybe fuel pump or filter issue or just clogged up mass air flow or filter..

Air flow in car vents low

Sounds like the flap that controls the direction of air flow is stuck in the wrong position. Possibly a vacuam line off the actuator.
