Question about 1997 Nissan.5 Altima

1 Answer

A/c vent issue

1997 Altima SE...a/c was serviced last summer. very cold. Now when air flow is set to center (dash) vents, it appears to be randomly blowing warmer air, perhaps mixed vent (fresh) air. Works fine when set to lower (floor) vents. W/ fan OFF, there seems to be abnormal air flow thru vents as well

If I am getting outside air into the system (heater box) it appears ONLY when sdash ducts are open....if this is possible, what is fix short of dropping box from under dash

I cannot get any air, hot or cold, fresh or a/c, to come thru the vents in the dash. Floor vents and defrost are the only source of air flow. What now ???

Sounds like the lil motor on the bottom side vent is bad or else garbabe fell down defrost outlet and has the motor blocked from working..Take something like an screwdriver and work some of the junk out the bottom vent..Hope this helps...

2 vents blow semi cold aair and the other 2 blow hot air

You have a blend door issue under dash. Also possible blend door actuator motor may have failed. Try moving the mode select dial on control panel back and forth and listen for air sound change under dash at both sets of vents. If do not hear air flow change door is not moving.

I charged my ac last summer, worked great. This summer the 2 vents on the passenger side work great, very cold. The 2 vents on the drivers side blow air but not cold, just like the ac is not on?

One of your Actuators inside the dash that control the A/C Heat doors/ Baffles that open or close, to either give you hot or cold air has failed. Find and replace the failed Actuator and it should work fine.

Uneven cold air from front dashboard vents

Well this is simple. You never should run out of refrigerant EVER. If you do, it is a leak. Not enough refrigerant causes uneven vent temperatures. You need to find and repair the leak. This can be done with a refrigerant detector or by using AC dye. I would not recommend doing this yourself, take it to a dealer. Good luck

Fully warmed up; blowing hot and cold; Suzuki XL-7

Its just a vent damper plate not operating, it's like a gate which controls the flow of air,,usually they are operated by vacuum, or cables.
Service center time, unless you are handy with your own repairs.

Heat wont blow through heater or defroster vents

common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.
