Bmw X5 2004 has heterodyne over audio

On use of analogue television a whine or heterodyne is heard over the audio
after about ten minutes of operation and does not stop
digital TV ok ,audio and radio ok, just analogue TV
PS BMW have changed reciever amplifier box in rear tyre well but heterodyne is still there

Question is there a separate power supply for the reciever /amplifier somewhere in the vehicle

thanks Alan

If it is only on analog tv, then it must be an interference on aerial cable

The power supply for the receiver is always the battery, the power adapter is inside the receiver.
If you have an interference or noise only on analogue tv, then, as already stated it is an interference on the aerial cable, orr if you have an active (amplified) tv aerial it can be a fault on the aerial signal booster, that is integrated with the receiver.
Check the aerial cable, eventually disconnect the aerial, and check if you get the noise when receiving the blank signal on tv.
If you get interference with aerial unplugged, then the analog tv receiver is faulty, if not it is the aerial.

Whining power steering pump on 2001 bmw 740il

have you put a different type of power steering fluid?

in some instance, if they put a different type of fluid, the solution bubbles up and makes a whining noise when you use the car.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Discovery 3 MY09 TDV6 front end whine under load acceleration

When you say whine does it only occur under acceleration only? If so most likely the wheel hub assembly or some will say wheel bearing but on these vehicles it is complete hub assembly. If you turn or swerve one way then the other does it go away in one direction? If so another strong indication of hub wearing out. If not, and it is a really high whine with acceleration it is also possibly the transmission. I have heard of this complaint before, it's not a sign of failure just a noise that develops due to the pressure placed on bearing under a load. First change fluid and filter for tranny after a good flushing. Replace with high quality fluid and a bottle of transmission seal restore product. Go 1000 miles, change fluid again, if noise is still there turn up radio.
Sorry but just a whine under acceleration isn't a lot to go on. But I'm willing to bet wheel hub. 9 out of ten front end whine complaints is wheel hub or bearing especially on a heavy 4x4 suv

I have a bmw 2000 540i and after the car runs for ten minutes the on board computer flashes "trans failsafe prog". what is wrong.

Your transmission is going into limp mode because of a fault. Get the tranny diagnosed.

I have a 1972 bmw automatic Bavaria with 1975 3.0si engine Differential makes noise.

you would only experience problems from the diff if there was a substantial increase in torque from the different engine as there would be less than 10% difference in torque ratings , Any noise from the diff would be naturally occurring from wear or oil
diff noises indicating bearing problems are a whine on drive or coasting , an growl on deceleration and a harmonic whine or growl when the vehicle is held at steady speed Other than those indications , I would be more inclined to suspect wheel bearings and brake associated noises
wheel bearings are normally more pronounced on cornering

Steering makes a whining noise - where is the fluid reservoir?

the suspect part for a power steering whine is the power steering pump, flush (very important) the system and replace the PS pump..
