Sorry to say but that's more than likely the water pump. The water pump is located in the timng line. You will have to take the timing belt off to change the water pump. While you're changing the pump you may as well chang the timing belt so you don't have to go through that job twice.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Do I need special tools to change water pump on 2005 cadillac cts

  1. You'll need a tool to release the tension on the serpentine belt and when you need to put the belt back on. Regular standard socket wrenches will suffice for the rest.

Crank pulley leaking coolant on 2005 cadillac cts

It's not the crank pulley , it's coming from above an leaking down around the crank pulley . It's actually the water pump which is right above the crank pulley .

Water pump not worki ng

the water pump is located in the front of the engine behind the waterpump. you'll need to remove the accessory belts, crank pulley, timing covers, and timing belt. this is about a 6 hrs job if you know what your doing.

Do I have to remove crankshaft pulley to remove engine front cover (timing cover) on a 2008 mercury mountaineer all wheel drive 4.0L

If it is an aluminium housing I would say you have to . If there is a nut holding the harmonic balancer on use a 1/2 rattle gun(impact) and undo nut . You will not be able to hold the crank any other way. Use a harmonic balance puller to pull the pulley. Wat6ch for the crank key as you pull it off. I think that there may be a more sinster problem awaiting you as the cover covers the chain or gears and has no water behind it except what leaks through the back of the cover from corrosion holes behind the water pump impellor.. Do the nut up with the impact gun. You may have to remove the radiator to get enough space to work on the cover.

1999 2.0L VW Jetta coolant leak behind crankshaft pulley

The MK3 VW's are prone to failure of the "coolant flange", which is located to the right of the valve cover, and will have 4-5 hoses and or sensors sprouting from it.

I'd be willing to bet that this is the source of your leak, not the cam pulley.

The part is inexpensive.

Coolant leak behind bottom pulley

Could be water pump weephole leak or water pump gasket under water pump trailing down timing cover and exiting behind crank pulley or water . Worse case, leak in timing cover. Water crosses through timing cover to and from water pump to engine block.

Coolant leak at crank pulley

it is not the crank pulley it is the water pump above the crank pulley, the coolant runs down and looks like it is from the pulley area.

Antifreeze drips from crank shaft pully area when running.

it's probably not dripping from the crankshaft... it would drip from the water pump just on top of it...

to check if it is done, take a flashlight and spot on top of the water pump. there should be a hole on top of it behind the pulley...

if it is damp, the pump is gone....

if not it might leak from the gasket...
