Leaking coolant I got a 94 mustang gt, i just replaced the water pump last month and now its leaking coolant from behind the water pump. It looks like its the part thats bolt onto the block and the water pump bolts onto. I'm trying to find out what that part is called so i can find a replacement part.

I believe this part you are referring to is the intake manifold. it seems to be a big problem with the older ford mustangs. make sure before you spend the big bucks on it that it's not just the water pump gasket.

Why does my car overheat for a month straight but coolant in it then doesntfor 2 months thjen does again

you have a coolant leak somewhere ! check the intake manifold gaskets for leaking, the water pump maybe leaking out of relief hole on bottom of pump. make sure the coolant recovery tank is not leaking. look very carefully and you will find it.

2001 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0L - 4 months ago the water pump was leaking from the weephole behind the pulley. I replaced the water pump with one from NAPA, timing belt, etc. It ran great for a couple days...

The only thing I can think on is belt tension. You are turning the tensioner counterclockwise and aligning the arrow with the cut out on the head right? But this is a guess only, even if the belt was too tight it should make noise and go longer than that before the bearing would wear enough for the internal seal to leak.

Just replaced the water pump due to a leak not on it but behind the pump. I was told the leak was a tatle tale showing i needed a new pump. I still have anti freeze coming out behind it. any ideas?

The pump does have a weep hole in it. If a seal in the pump fails coolant will come out of the weep hole. Looks like you may have a bad water pump seal, but check gaskets, intake manifold and hoses as these can leak in this area as well. So determine where the coolant is coming from before investing in a new waterpump.

replace the leaking unit first, then fill the hydraulic pump with fluid , it may take a few cycles to remove the air

Excelerated my Mustang real fast to get into moving traffic. Then smelled coolant. When I pulled into a store to get gas 4 miles later the car was smoking. Left a trail of some liquid behind me. Checked...

You will need to jack the car up to get under it. Once it is jacked up you must be sure to put jack stands under it for your safety. Please - no car is worth your life.
After you secure the car. Get under it with a flash light and have some one start it and put water in it. Look for the water coming out. You may have blown a hose or a freeze plug. If it is a hose - replace as needed. If it is ANYTHING else please have a professional look at it as you are obviously unable to repair it and the tools alone will cost more than a mechanic in many instances.

I have a water leak on my 96 camaro. It has a 3.8 v6 engine. The water is leaking, not from the water pump itself but from behind the part the water pump mounts on. Not immediately behind the water pump...

It is your Lower Imtake Manifold gasket (LIM). Late Production Camaros and Firebirds used Dex-Cool coolant which nortoriously caused the LMI to actually disintegrate. The failure of the LIM allows coolant to leak to the exterior of the engine as well as into the interior of the engine eventually getting into your oil. Check your oil for a brown milky color... if you have it immediately drive your car to you favorite repair shop and replace the LIM gasket. The GM 3.1L, 3.4L and 3.8L engines are famous for disintegrated LIM gaskets and a good shop will have replaced 30-50 of these in a year. The LMI is part of the reason the public dissed Pontiac and eventually led to its demise (not to mention bad management at GM). Find a shop familiar with the LIM problem and it shouldn't cost more than $500 to replace (or less). If you have any mechanical skill you can replace it yourself... the gasket kit costs about $35 at NAPA AutoParts and it takes a whole Saturday if it's your first time. I just finished replacing the LMI on my wife's '94 Firebird.

The bypass hose from the waterpump to the intake is leaking. It is about four inches long and is directly under the ac compressor and bracket.

2.3l ranger keeps overheating, been through two radiators already.

Hello Ranger Joe, eight months and two radiators is very uncommon. Question, Have you visually confirmed the leak in the radiators or is the leak near the hose connections? Replacing the radiator, cap, water pump, & the thermostat leaves only two others, the hoses and the engine block/heads. Far fitched will be something or somebody poking holes in the radiator.
