Won't start twice in a row. Starts/stalls.

Have the fuel system pressure checked especially after you start and stop the engine. If the system loses pressure immediately, you have a problem with loss of residual pressure caused by a check valve or equivalent.

Truck ran fine set for an hour or so come back would not star 3 attempts waited for a little while cranked up. went out this morning would not crank up 5 attempts.Notice batt. was dragging went and had it...

Most of your discription would indicate a bad starter,
if your talking about the engine turning over or cranking

Some people call a no start or no ignition, a not cranking
situation, which is a wrong statement.

You may have a bad fuel pump, if the motor turns
over but won't start.

I recently replaced cylinder heads on my 1992 Ford Explorer.Heads were from a 1995 looked the same and was told were same.Motor will only start with long period of rolling over and throttle wide open,runs...

no your problem is not the heads you have it right timing is off try putting it on time again you will get it to start and run right, you might be off by 180 degrees try spinnig distributor 1/2 turn and drop back down.always ssstart with the crank on tdc.

Occasionally my 2000 Explorer simply won't start. It cranks and cranks but won't start. I may wait a day or so, try again and it starts right up. What's up?

Sounds like crank sensor is bad. You most likely aren't getting any spark. You can always check the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail to see if there is plenty of gas. use a rag on top if you try.

You can use a test light or ohmmeter on each coil pack connection to see if there is power.

Or you can pull out one spark plug , then plug back in to plug wire, then lay on top of engine.Make sure the electrode is directly next to metal surface (about 1/4" away) Have someone else crank engine while you watch for spark. Then put back on and move to next plug wire.
