Question about 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Power seat problem

I have a 1984 Monte Carlo and the power seat stopped working. The motor runs, but it appears that there is a bushing/coupling between the gear box and the drive motor. This bushing has split in half horizontally. I can rotate the part that is still connected to the gear box freely. Is this normal? or should I feel resistance. Can that coupler be obtained?

Thanks, Dan

Thanks Mike, the part looks like a small dumbell and was split diagonally. I superglued the 2 halves together and then 10lb test fishing line to the part at one end. I wrapped it tightly around the part, coated it with epoxy, wrapped a second layer, coated, etc. for about 5 layers. Held up nicely! Will probably be there when the motor or gear box goes out!

Power seat parts list

Sounds like you need a SHOP MANUAL!
Check eBay, or get an after-market Chilton's repair manual.
There really aren't that many parts to power seats: Switch assembly, wiring harness, position servos (if you have memory seats), a couple of motors, a few gears, a track, and a couple of risers.

95 monte carlo passenger side window wont work

When a window switch is not being used, it has the ground circuit on both sides. Then when you move it to up or down, you apply power to one side of the motor. Thats how the motor is able to run in both directions.
So you should have power on one side or the other when you move the switch. Have you checked it for power and ground ?

No power to my ignition or radio in my 84 monte carlo but my head lights and dash lights work what could be rong?

you need to follow the melted wires and see if they shorted out along the way. there is sometimes a fuse inline with the ignition wire you could check for that as well

2001 monte carlo blower motor stops working with heat or ac

Check all fuses using a test light. If good, turn on fan and check for power at the blower motor connector. There all the wires there as each one is for different speed. If good, blower might be bad. If no power, check switch itself for continuity. Keep me informed.
