Ford Ka Fan Belt?

We have a R reg Ka which has this week developed a clicking noise in the vicinity of the fan belt. It sounds like something is catching each time the fan belt turns. The rate of click increases as the accelerator is depressed. Any idea what this is?

Either its developed the same fault or the fan motor bearing has failed, needs greasing or, if there's a belt, the belt is slipping.

Hi, My name is Hunter, Got in my truck its a 1997 chevy k1500. Its been sitting for a week in a parking lot. When I accelerate I hear a noise. It comes in around 13-15mph and is very random after...

Possible that it can be due to belt slippage , mainly the fan belt. Stop the engine and check the belt PLAY, if this is more remove the fitting bolts of the tensioner and adjust the tension of tehbelt to tighten it further.
Now if there is still noise coming out while it accelerates then the clutch, brakes or wheel bearings need to checked.

ENGINE WAS SQUEEKING WHEN IDLEING AND NOW WHEN DRIVING..THE NOISE IS COMMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE NEAR THE VALVE COVER AND OR THERMOSTAT AREA.....WHAT COULD IT BE? BEARING/WATERPUMP ..ALL THE PULLYS ARE ON...

Check the tension of the fan belt, that is what it sounds like when a fan belt is coming loose... it squeaks and sounds like it might be internal, but it is really external. If this doesn't fix the issue let me know and I will post a 2nd thing to check.

Good luck.

Sounds like fan belt noise but, the fan belt looks solid..no cracks etc...doesn't scream on start up..it seams to be a steady sqweak emitting from the fan belt area. Bearing problem?

If your belts are in good shape and tension is proper, you should take off the belts and srin each pulley or tensioner that turns with the belt. I think that you will find that a bearing is going bad. Try to do this when the engine is cold for that will usually make the noise more pronounced.

Noise from ford focus fan belt tensioner

You could just tighten up the fan belt. Loosen off 3 Bolts on the alternator just enough to be able to move it, then retighten. Stuff the idea of buying a replacement, for something that will last the lifetime of the car.

two things can cause this: something stuck in the fan itself or the drive belt also check out the front brake pads cause this will also make a grinding noise
