SOURCE: Airbag light stays on in 2004 Chrysler Sebring
Sounds like you need to get it scanned for trouble codes. It will most likely need a new air bag clock spring. This is the wound connection under the steering wheel, it is a common failure item. It may be some other things related to the safty restraint system, but that will show up in a vehicle scan.

SOURCE: my timing belt broke off my 1997 chrysler sebring
The 2.4L is an "interface" engine. This means the vavles share the same space as the piston. When the belt breaks piston can hit valves and cause big problems. In this case, I would install or have one installed and see what happens. In other cases when belt is installed there can be no signs of damage. Its a 50/50. It would run around $200 to find out Parts and labor. Cross your fingers and good luck
