Hi, I have a Jaguar x-type 2.0 v6 2002, and i stalled it and quickly turned the engine back on, then the malfunction indicator lamp came on and won't go off. The car runs perfectly but this light...

Hi,
The light coming on is an indication of a malfunction in the engine management system.
The cars computer has now stored a malfunction code, turning on the light. A parts store as Auto Zone or a Jag dealer can scan the computer with a "code scanner". Many parts stores will do this for free.
The code scanner will give the reason why the light went on. This aids the mechanic of your choice in the repair.
You need to find a place to scan the computer. Although the car runs good the light is a warning that something is amiss.

Hi,
Did the engine stops?
Sounds like your battery died and the alternator stop charging the battery?
Did you try to restart the engine?
Give us more details please.

My '04 Jag X-Type stutters at 3k rpm. There's a check engine light and codes P0174 and P1111. I replaced both IMT o-rings, PCV hose, and brake booster to manifold hose. The dealership couldn't figure it...

My Jag had the same problem. It was the upper and lower intake manifold seals. Buy the aftermarket FelPros and save big money. Change them yourself and save even more. It's not that hard.

Have a 2002 Jag w/ 84,000 - engine light light on - code p1000 ( stopped at advanced auto ) - emissions ( converter ) there are 4 or 5 sensors - parts guy at a dealership mentioned that p1000 is a general...

P1000 normally is shown after the engine management light is reset.
When the light is on you should see other codes that will indicate which sensor(s) are faulty.
Most good mechanics have the equipment to read these codes and can give you a list (there may be multiple codes)
If you check out http://www.bluejag.co.uk you will find further information on this subject.

Jag X-Type 2.0 V6 Auto (2002). Amber engine icon lit and aircon switches itself on. No loss of power/drives great. Temperature gauge appears all normal. After a while aircon switches itself off again -...

The Amber Engine Icon means the same as a Check Engine Light. Your car's ECM (Computer) has stored a Trouble Code, and you will need a OBD II Reader (On- Board Diagnostic) to get the code so you can diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle. You can go to any AutoZone and they can read the code for you at no charge. You will need to diagnose and fix the problem before the Check Engine Light will turn off.

Engine management light stays on

I HAVE A JAG XTYPE 2.0 V6 SPORT, HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A HARSH GEAR CHANGE (WHEN THE CLUTCH IS NOT FULLY PRESSED), HAD THE FAULT READ AND WAS ADVISED THE GEAR SENSOR HAD TRIGGERED AS THERE WAS A HARSH GEAR CHANGE, HAD THE CODES ALL READ AND CLEARED NOW THE LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITANTLY, AND GOES AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS, I BELIEVE THIS A COMMON FAULT WITH JAGS SADLY THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS EITHER LIVE WITH IT OR REMOVE THE BULB FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

Jaguar x type 51 plate. Engine Management Light ON, ABS light on. Drove over a bird on motorway, couldn't be avoided without causing accident. Seemed to hit underside next to passenger front wheel

i have x-type 2.0D 2004 last couple of weeks the engine management light has been illuminated i took it to my regular mechanic who did a dianostic check and found it to be the air flow meter which he replaced and the code was cancelled a day later the light came back on again, so i took it back he took another reading and it came back as the same fault so he cancelled the code again, but the light has come back on and although this is annoying it hasn't deteriorated the performance
