Go get a timing light to see if you have spark if you do not it is a bad ignition module.
to check your fuel pump connect a fuel pressure guage to the engine fuel injector rail and turn over the engine the pressure should be: 40 to 60 psi.
You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem. Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ? It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, or a list of other things. Even the fuel pump. If this is a vortec V6 it takes at least 60psi to cover the injectors.
The first thing I would check is fuel pressure. This type of fuel injection requires a minimum fuel pressure in order to operate. If fuel pressure is as little as one psi below minimum the vehicle will not start.
You can try squirting a couple of shots of carb spray into the air snorkel while somebody cranks the engine over. If the engine starts and then dies you now you fpdeffinetely have a fuel issue.
If the engine still won't start check for spark.

It sounds like to me the engine is out of time. Check your firing order to make sure that is right all so check all your wiring going to your distributor. I dont if you bought these parts new or used if used check you coil and ditributor. I hope this might help you. they have a book s-10@s-15 which they sell at any auto store or the library.
check compression, at that many miles the exhaust seats could be wearing up into head causing valves to stay open longer loosing compression, while the engine is cold oil is thicker ,lifters pump up further do to thick oil when oil thins out you have less lifter pump up thus working working properly check compression cold should be 125 low to 155 any less than 100 you have valve prob.
