When you pass the water, the water hit to the hot pipe and the steam get into your distributer cap, you won't start until it dry.

    1. you can not start the car when the distributor is wet..

    2. use hair dryer to dry it,

    3. you should have a plastic or iron plate guard underneath the front engine, maybe your car doesn't have it.

    4. I am not sure whether you can use Q-20, if it is oily, do not use it in the distributor.

Hi. The contacts in the Coolant bottle get contaminated and then don't pick up the water level. Brige the contacts at the water botlle and start the car, if the coolant/temp light behaves for 5 min or so after starting the car, then change the coolant bottle/resevoir.

Car switches off immidiately on start up after a few good trys then she idles on 1995 jetta vr6

I had this problem with several customer VWs and found the source was a faulty electrical portion of the ignition switch. It is a cheaply made plastic unit that fits on the mechanical part of the switch assembly. You might try experimenting with jiggling the switch while the car is running to see if it quits. If this is not the problem then it's time to determine if it is a fuel or ignition problem. Let me know what you find.

Went through a puddle. Car died. Restarted a day

See these items:-

The starter must have been bad due to the water.

Bad PCM or ignition coil.

Corroded battery cables.

See timing belt.

My 2002 VW Jetta leaks on the passenger side every time it rains. The water leak is worse when the car is parked and not being driven. I suspect it has something to do with the weather stripping.

i was a water leak specialist for vw and mainly the leaks are from around the rubber at the windshield as well as follow down through the antenna the 2 fuses under the drivers dash are 45.00 each 20 years ago im sure three more than that now ...use a garden hose and start low and after a few minutes raise it little by little until leak is found as well as a 2nd person in the vehicle with a light to look for the leak you may caulk or of that nature using tape to ensure a nice straight line on the windshield and not make a mess sometimes it even comes from the fenders and so look carefully and raise the hose upwards going slowly allowing the water to penetrate the area in which it finds its way in

pop off the distributer cap and dry it out well. Put it back on and it should work. This happened to my 97 jetta too...also if I go through large puddles at a quick speed this may happen too. There isn't good electrical contact with the moisture.

there is a coolant flange on the side of the head that cracks and leaks on those. but to go through that much coolant in a day you should see puddles building up. make sure you are not mixing coolants on that i can cause a huge overheating issue. if you dont have vw coolant just use water until the leak is fixed
