Make sure that you buy the correct type plugs(Champion RC12MCC4 or equivalent). Also it may be a good idea to have a flexible-extension for your ratchet.

Some of the spark plug wires on my 1991 Dodge Dakoa Sport V8 inadvertantly got removed from distributer cap and I'm not sure I put them all back in the correct order. If anyone can provide information on...

For the 1991 Dodge Dakota 318 cubic inch = 5.2L V8

2004 Dodge Dakota V8 that is Idling very rough and the engin stops at times, and the automatic transmission is also not shifting smoothly.

transmission probably needs fluid and filter change. as for the the engine not running smootly, it may be in need of a tune up, you know, changing air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires... or it could be a weak fuel pump.

Where's the oil filter on the 2004 dodge dakota

I am not sure which engine you have, but the oil filter on Dodge products is usually within a few inches of the oil pan, mounted either vertically or horizontally. In 2004, the 3.9 liter V-6 was replaced with a 3.7 liter engine, and the 5.9 liter V-8 was replaced with the 4.7 liter V-8.

Location of spark plugs in 2005 dodge dakota

To change the sparks on a 2005 4.7L Dodge Dakota you will need the following:
  • Spark plug socket
  • Ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Extension
  • Flat-tip screwdriver
  • Make sure the truck is cold!!!

Note you will have to remove the air intake located at the top of the engine, and will have to move some of the coolant lines out of the way.

At the top of the engine there are 4 sparks on each side. The coils are held in place with a 10mm bolt. Undo the 10mm bolt and unclip the coil. Next pull out the coil.

Insert the socket, with extension into the spark plug hole.

Remove spark plug.

Check the gap on new spark plug, it should match stock.

tighten to approximately 25ft.lbs. (check spark-plug packaging for exact torque requirements).

repeat this process with all other sparks.

be sure that no dirt gets into the spark plug holes.
