Question about 1998 Honda Civic
My car dont have coil where you used to get signal to run tachometer.
signal wire: here is where it can get complicated. most tachometers are hooked to the negative side of the ignition coil. But my cars dont have coil or computer. For this i will need to run the wires to the engine compartment more than likely, but where to get the signal from?
I am not sure but I have a diesel VW caravelle and i think is probably at the generator you can do it to the same cable as the warning lamp er conected but is just a guess

I figured it out yesterday sorry i didnt write back where the cluster plugs in the wires there must be spliced as we have no rpm guages to our clustre it is set up through it which is why we are now rethinking , a civic si has the same model cluster with rpm guages and a bunch of extras and is probably actually easier to install than the rpm guage go to a hondatoy junk yard and see which si cluster fits for your civic

My 98 civic has no tach and I would like to install one. The tach I bought has 4 wires white, red, black and green. I know the back is ground, red and white are power one is light and the other is power anyway and green goes to distributor but... What distributor wire do I plug into?
