Question about 2001 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

Codes I have a 2001 jeep wrangler 4 cylinder. When my jeep wouldn't start this winter because he was below zero outside. My husband said the display (where the milage is) showed "done". When turning the key to read the codes from the jeep it will also read done. I have never seen this and would like to know what it means and if anyone else has ever encountered this.

Your jeep showed the done message because as im sure you were turning the key on and off to try to start the car this also the method of doing the self check of the diagnostic trouble codes(DTC) and it prompts done when it is finished displaying the DTC's

2001 jeep wrangler sport 4.0 liter engine starts then shuts off. Is this the crankshaft sensor

engine stalls
there are over 50 reasons for stalls. (even burned intake valve or even a 10cent valve keeper ,missing)
but in physics (we use gauges to find truth)
it 5 reasons, what to TEST or Gue$$>
the list and matching tools if you ask.
  • battery power never dropping below 13.3v running. or PCM can shut down near or below 11v.
  • Lost engine compression. 1 or more cylinders.
  • lost spark or timed wrong. (cams can go off time and take spark with it)
  • bad fueling. to much and too little.
  • EGR stuck open. if you have one, many 4l dont, it uses a detuned cam to , prevent NOX commissions.
want to test?

1990 jeep wrangler motor has no compression

Take it back to the shop that did the engine overhaul. No compression at all? They did something very wrong. Does the distributor shaft and rotor turn when cranking the engine? Are you sure your compression tester is working and hasn't failed? Is it possible they got the timing for the crank and camshaft all wrong? Take it back to them and demand they fix it, if it truly has no compression. It will never start without compression.

Cant get starter out in a 2001 jeep wagler 2.5 litter 4

Once you remove the starter mounting bolts and wires from the solenoid, the starter should pull right out and allow you to drop it down.
If you have a 3.7 it will take some more dis-assembly, but you have a 4 cylinder.

My 1990 jeep wrangler won't turn over at all

First, check battery voltage. It should be 12V Or, if really cold, high 11's (11.8, 11.9) but absolutely no lower. If you can't read voltage, charge it up. (with a battery charger, not another car) Check interior light to make sure you didn't leave it on and also the glove box (most often overlooked item... if not closed all the way, light stays on). Once charged, you can check other items in order to verify everything is OK. Good luck
