If it's leakiong at the distributor, there may be a crack in the distributor. Try pushing the wire in deeper. If this doesn't work, get a new cap.
If it's leaking from the wire, the wire probably is bad or not connected right at the spark plug.

Shaking badly when idle and runs rough

look for a loose vacuum line first. Check the plug wires to see if any are loose. In the dark, open the hood and start the engine. Look for any plug wires that may be arcing or sparking but do not touch them or you'll get a bad shock. If the wires are bad, replace all of them. Check the wire from the coil to the distributor to make sure it is fastened tightly, do the same with the plug wires (check connection at the distributor and at the plug) before you start the car and get it warmed up.

97 s10 spark plug wire length.

No, the longer length will not cause your problem. The longer wires are simply for the plugs longest from the distributor cap (or coil pack) to the spark plug, and no particular length is critical, just as long as all wires will fit.
Do you mean it ran fine before you changed the wires and plugs? If so, you may have one or two not fully seated at one end or the other. Go back and make sure each wire is pushed in correctly, You should hear or feel the new wire snap over the new spark plug.

Engine running rough and noise from water pump

Hi, if the engine runs but is rough, check the ignition system by using a pair of insulated pliers and pull one plug wire at a time from the distributor. Or, disconnect the coils one at a time, listening for engine RPM change. If a cylinder is found that does not make a difference, this is the problem cylinder. Check the wires, if any, by spraying with water and looking for arcing on bad wires. Check the plugs, distributor cap and rotor, or the coil in coil-on plug applications. The easy way to check coil-on plug applications when one is believed to be bad is to swap one with another and test again. If that cylinder is now working, the coil is bad and needs replacing.

If there is an uneven rattling noise with the engine running, shut off the engine and check the water pump. Grab the fan blade and try to shake the fan and watch the water pump for a loose shaft. If it's loose, the pump is bad.

Thank You.

My 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser ALSO idles rough in cold damp weather.

If this only happens when it's damp out, chances are your spark plug wires are arcing. When was the last time they were replaced? If they're factory wires, they'll be marked with the year they were made on the wires. Usually these won't last more than 10 years or 100,000 miles.

If they're in question, change the plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor.

Rough idle, dies when running slow

Not much info here, but I would do a tune-up. Change spark plugs, oil and filter, air filter. Disributor rotor and check distributor cap for cleanliness. Make sure spark plug wires are not arcing.

We don't have a distributor cap but a coil pack and the problem is that we need to change the spark plug wires but we are not sure how to do this since we cannot even see the coil pack. Does anyone have...

Yes they can go bad/ crack ect. But bad/old plugs cause undue stress on wires and coils, so make sure the spark plugs are the correct AC DELCO Platinum spark plugs, and just replace the spark plug wires one at a time. Take a spray bottle (windex works good) and wet the spark plug wires ans see if you can find where they may be arcing.

Runs like ****, backfires and chugs, no power

Several possibles: Plug wires arcing (run engine in a very dark area and open hood to see is there is arcing) Bad coil (same test look for arcing sometimes you can hear spark jumping) Distributor cap arcing inside or outside ( remove cap and inspect for carbon tracks inside cap). Module inside distributor bad (not too expensive to replace). Lean toward wires or coil.

94 f-150 runs rough

The distributor cap and rotor should be changed if this does not help replace the ignition module located within the distributor Headers increase the local temperature near the spark plug boots make sure you have a thick high quality spark plug wire boot surrounding the spark plugs, an old timer trick is to start the truck up cold at night in a dark local and spray the plug wires and dist. cap with a light mist of water to detect any weakness in the ignition wiring, any arc outs see must be adressed.

94 toyota camry with no spark

Hi kfmoffice,
Sounds like you may have an igniter problem....Make sure that there's no water anywhere in the system....That includes the distributor cap.... That comes off with three 8mm bolts....(Sometimes they fall out of the cap, once it's loose)

Best of luck
