Could be the vent control valve. Newer model cars have pressurized gas tank, this valve closes when you start the car to pressurize the system and opens when you shut it off to vent the system, and if stuck closed the system will not vent wile pumping gas causing it to come back up the pipe. Nissan has had many problems with this valve and since have redesigned it.
The valve is located just to the rear of the driver's side back tire, you will have to remove the plastic shield to get at it and if you remove the back tire, it makes the job much easier. It looks like a tube with an electrical connection on the side at the top and the hose from the gas tank on the same side at the bottom. It is attached to a black box I thank they call it the carbon box. Remove the valve by turning it counterclockwise and pull it out. Remove the electrical connection then the hoes that leads to the gas tank. If you look inside the holes you will see a plunger and a spring, if the plunger is down and seated it means it is stuck closed. If you are not sure you can do what I did and try to plow into it if you cant you have your answer it's closed. I had to go to the dealer for the part and they soaked me for $152.00 but better that then paying them to do this simple job. To reinstall the new unit just reverse the directions. Once I had, the part out I disconnected the battery in the hopes it would reset the check engine light and after the job was done, I reconnected the battery and everything was fine. I think it is a simple job and if I can do it anyone can, good luck.

Loosing power when drining

Hi Jennifer-
I believe I may be able to help you with the gas spillage you are having when filling the tank. This happened on my 1998 Toyota Camry.
One day, even though I was low on fuel, the attendant had trouble adding gas to my tank. Gas would spill during filling or the nozzle would click off (as though it was full) even though it was not. I had to stand there myself and slowly add gas until the tank was full.
I learned that my car had a thin vent tube that would run from the gas tank to the gas tank opening. As gas is rushing into the tank during filling, the air that is being displaced from the gas tank escapes through this tube. This tube had rusted closed a bit and was restricting the air flow escaping from the tank during pumping causing the problems I described. Once this tube was replaced, my problem was solved!
Hope this helps!

When I go to gas station to fill the gas in my Nissan Sentra Car, (2005), even if the gas tank is almost empty, when I start filling the gas, just after filling 2 liters or so, the gas spills out and

the gas is spilling out from where? is it spilling out from the filler, where you are putting the gas in? also is the pump handle shutting of a lot?

If the answer is yes then it sounds like the vent is clogged, this is very common, the problem is one of two things, the evap vent valve is stuck closed or the most common is that there is a spiders nest blocking the vent hose hole, spiders climb into the end off the hose and make web nest and this blocks the hose. what is happening is the air is not coming out.

When you fuel up the tank, as the gas is entering the yank is pushes the air out through this hose to allow room for gas. in your case the air is not coming out and there is no room for fuel so it is like the tank is full which it is but with air not gas, you may need to go to shop and have is cleaned out or if you are a little handy with cars you will need to go under the car locate evap canister and follow hose off vent valve and clean it out. good day.

When filling up with gas , the pumps stops and I have to fill tank very slowely

Some cars have a rather sharp bend in the fuel tank filler pipe. Try rotating the pump's nozzle so that it is more horizontal to the ground. Try it one way, if that does not work rotate it 180 degrees to the opposite direction.

you have a vent tube thats plugged or kinked. Its a 1/2 or so size an usally follows the fill pipe down.Sometimes you can look in fuel filler hole and see small hose-- thats your should see it from under side of car without too much trouble

Can not put gas in tank. it spills back out when filling. What is a quick fix for a month or so till son gets home with it

Sounds to me as if the pump is not being inserted into the tank far enough which will cause spillage. Always insert the pump until the rings on the nozzle of the pump touch the base of the opening of your gas "hole".

When I pump gas, it will spill out of the tank when its not full

there is a vent pipe/tube that runs along the fill pipe, this vent allows air out of the tank when u fill it, it has to be obstructed, replace it.
