Old car...electrical contacts may be the most common source for problems...even stiff steering.

solution...clean as many electrical connections as possible including the main harness to the dme.

use an electrical contact cleaner on all of them. let each contact dry and then apply a small amount of di-electric grease to those cleaned contacts.

I solved an intermittent ASC problems and stiff steering at low speeds with this fix. could very well fix bad signals from cam shaft sensors, as well as speed sensors etc.

I have a 2007 jeep patriot. It stalled at stop sign started ran rough. Parked came back drove it home ran u- scan code p0017 replaced crank and cam sensors still runs rough changed plugs were bad. I was...

code p0017 refers to crank/ cam oosition sensor bank 1 sensor B -correlation ===causes --wiring--CKP sensor--CMP sensor--mechanical fault.
It also refers to control modules, cooling fan--no signal===causes -- wiring--ECM.
If it has a timing chain then the the advice that it will not be the chain is good. So I suggest checking out the cam/ crank sensors and wiring

Someone pour sugar in gas tank

did your engine get hot the second time. if it was me i would have an estimate for everything to be perfect and take the person who did it and take them to court. sugar could ruin your engine, and you could do the same if u run it too lean, cause your cyl head temp could get really hot.

P1320 code appeared and we replaced the cam position sensor. It ran OK, but started rough until warm and next code showed #1 cylinder misfire. Replaced #1 coil and it ran great. Then later the engine light...

i just had the same problem in my bmw 325i. Probably vaccum leak or exhaust leak. Check that nothing came loose in these areas. It takes time for your car to learn the new CPS (cam pos. sensor) so give it a few days and reset the code again and see if it works.

Rough running

Computers aren't ALWAYS correct. If a code wasn't cleared after the original problem, it will read the same codes off to the diagnostic. I would remove the wire connector to each injector while it's running. If one of them makes no difference THAT is your culprit. Let me know please!

2000 bmw 528i shudders when first started and when it idles

I had the same issue with my 2000 528i. You more than likely need to have the Vanos seals replaced. BMW will tell you that the Vanos unit needs to be replaced but the problem is more than likely isolated to the OEM seals that shipped with the Vanos. This issue has been reported by several BMW owners. This issue has been thoroughly documented and reported to BMW in an effort to seek a corrective fix. Since BMW failed to address the problem, the guys that investigated the issue started their own company providing superior Vanos seals to the deficient OEM Vanos seals.

The company is Beisan Systems, LLC. I ordered their Vanos seal kit and had them installed at a local BMW performance shop for less than half of what BMW wanted to charge me for a Vanos replacement with the same faulty seals. Besian also provides step-by-step DIY instructions; if you have the time.

Good Luck.
