Mini cooper s 2006

Hi just purchased 2006 cooper s,when changing from 1st to 2nd gear i can here a popping from the end of the exhaust is this normal?many thanks andy.

That's not a problem!! It's the burble and it's supposed to do that! Look up burble on northamericanmotoring.com

You probabily have an exhaust leak. Either that, or it is just fumes being ignited within your exhaust pipes. Some popping is normal, expecially if you have a custom exhaust.
Your dealership should be able to tell you what's wrong

Nothing to worry about as that is completely normal.... its even louder when the car is fitted with the works conversion!!

2004 mini cooper manual trans has a noise at shifting 1st and 2nd gears


check for clutch travel and adjustment, as well as gear box oil level and correct grade, also make sure there isn't a floor matt hindering full pedal travel

Reset transmission


put it in 1st gear, drive it and get up to 50 mph. once you hit 50, take your foot off the gas and let it decelerate at its own pace, no brakes. it should pop out of limp at that point. Also, this needs to be done cold.

My 55 reg mini did exactly the same thing. I would not worry about it. You should still be within your TLC warranty period anyway? No?
