I assume from your description that the smell of coolant is in the car.I believe you may have a leak in your heater core that may have shorted out the blower motor. Check for coolant on the carpet. You may have blown the fuse for the fan.Regardless,to be certain you will have to have a pressure check of the cooling system done to see where it is coming from. Heater cores are not fun to do and require the removal of a great deal of the dash.My back can't do them any more.Might be a job for the garage if you're not handy. Good luck

How to Diagnose Car Smells?

When is the smell noticed? If it is when the AC or heater is turned on then you have mold in the HVAC. Get a can of LYSOL spray and turn the AC/Heater blower on high, spray about 1/2 can into the air intake at the base of the windshield. Cover the vent openings with a towel to avoid the LYSOL getting on the interior parts.

Heater of car smells

A mouse or leaves from a nearby tree have gotten into the AC/Heater blower motor and they are touching the blower motor speed control resistor, this is very hot and makes them smolder and smoke and smell. You will need to remove the blower motor from the housing that it is in and clean out what ever is in there.

My heater stoped working while driving 2002 cerokee laredo blower works but no heat

Sounds like one of 3 things. It could be low on coolant/anitfreeze, could be the heater control valve not opening to let hot water into the heater core or it could be your heater core is stoped up.

My 2000 Mercury Sable is leaking anitfreeze and I am not sure where its leaking from. How can I find out?

open the hood, run the car with a piece of card over the rad (if poss)until its really hot then, with your sleeves rolled up and NO tie, look for a steam jet,if its hot enough, you wont miss it.unless it the heater matrix.but you would smell that inside the car with steamed up windows.(no ac)

Heater AC Problem 99 Escalade

On the passengers side under the dash you will find the blower motor. You might have to remove a panel.By the blower motor there is a blower motor resistor module that gets hot and will melt the connector to the blower motor.Check this area out and if it is melted you need to replace the resistor and the connector. You should be able to get one from the dealership.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Heater core or blower motor?

Sounds like your blower motor , you heater core is a non mechanical part and if it were the issue you are correct in thinking you would see fluid on the floor or mist on the windshield.
