TURN OFF RADIO OFF FIRST SO YOU WONT LOCK IT OUT. NOW DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.WITH KEY IN SWITCH TURN KEY TO POSITION 1 LIFT THE CAP UP ON THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE KEY.USE A PULLING HOOK MADE OF 0.04 INCH STEEL WIRE TO HELP IN THIS PROCEDURE. TURN THE KEY TO POSITION 0 AND REMOVE WITH CAP.INSTALL THE KEY AND TURN TO POSITION 1 PUSH DOWN THE DETENT AND REMOVE THE LOCK CYLINDER.THE DETENT IS AT THE RIGHT AND CAN BE PUSHED DOWN ONLY IN KEY POSITION 1. TO INSTALL NEW LOCK CYLINDER TURN LOCK CYLINDER TO POSITION 1 AND INSERT THE STEERING LOCK MAKING SURE THAT THE DETENT ENGAGES.TURN THE KEY TO POSITION 0 AND REMOVE.MOUNT THE CAP ON THE STEERING LOCK INSERT THE KEY AND TURN TO POSITION 1 AND PUSH THE CAP DOWN COMPLETELY.NOTE MODELS 124 126 201 REMOVE LOCK CYLINDER COVER WITH A SMALL PRYBAR. REMOVE LOCK CYLINDER FOR 124 AND 201 YOU NEED TO FABRICATE A RELEASING WIRE IN A U SHAPE INSERT RELEASING WIRE ENDS INTO THE CYLINDER BORE AND UNLOCK THE DETENTS SPRING TENSION.THEN REMOVE LOCK CYLINDER KEY AND RELEASING WIRE. FOR MODEL 126 YOU NEED SLEEVE TOOL 126589071400 REMOVE THE LOCK CYLINDER.TO INSTALL LOCK CYLINDER FOR MODEL 124 AND 201 INSTALL LOCK CYLINDER SO THE LOBE ENTERS INTO THE GROOVE IN THE HOUSING.INSTALL THE CAP WITH THE RECESS TO THE LEFT.FOR MODEL 126 COAT THE THREADS OF THE CAP WITH BEARING GREASE.INSERT LOCK CYLINDER INTO THE CAP SO THE DETENT ENTERS INTO THE GROOVE CAP.TURN THE KEY TO POSITION 1 AND UNLOCK THE DETENT WITH THE WIRE THROUGH THE BORE IN THE LOCK CYLINDER.INSTALL THE CAP AND LOCK CYLINDER SO THE ELEVATION ON THE CYLINDER ENTERS THE GROOVE ON THE LOCK HOUSING. SCREW CAP COMPLETELY ONTO THE HOUSING.REMOVING THE RELEASING WIRE AND TURN THE CAP TO THE LEFT 1 TURN UNTIL THE DETENT ENTERS THE GROOVE ON THE CAP.CHECK FOR PROPER FUNCTION INSTALL THE REMAINING COMPONENTS AND CHECK FOR OPERATION. NOTE MODEL 129 AND 140 DO NOT ALLOW THE SWITCHING SHAFT IN THE LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY TO BE TURNED OUT OF IGNITION KEY POSITION 1 THIS ALLOWS THE BUILT IN LOCK THEFT PROTECTION TO ENGAGE.IF THIS HAPPENS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK INSTALLED THE LOCK CYLINDER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED.IF THIS HAPPENS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK REMOVED PUSH A PIN INTO THE OPENING AND ROTATE THE DISK IN THE LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY FROM POSITION 0 TO POSITION 1 TO REMOVE LOCK CYLINDER. REMOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDERCOVERS. REMOVE THE ROUND ANCHOR PLATE FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL USING BUSHING TOOL 129589000700 OR EQUIVALENT. TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO POSITION 1 PRESS THE SAFETY CATCH TO RELEASE THE WIRING HARNESS.DISCONNECT THE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE SWITCH.DISCONNECT THE CONTROL FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. REMOVE THE IGNITION SWITCH WITH THE PROTECTIVE BUSHING.DEPRESS THE HOLDING PINS WITH A SPRING HOOP TOOL.THE LOCK CYLINDER MUST BE IN POSITION 1. TURN THE KEY TO POSITION 0 AND REMOVE THE KEY.INSERT A RELEASING WIRE INTO THE HOUSING FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH SIDE.THIS DEPRESSES THE LOCK AND THE CYLINDER CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH END. TO INSTALL NEW LOCK CYLINDER INTO THE SWITCH END OF THE HOUSING AND ENGAGE.INSTALL THE IGNITION SWITCH WITH THE PROTECTIVE BUSHING.THE LOCK CYLINDER MUST BE IN POSITION 1. CONNECT THE CONTROL FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. INSTALL THE IGNITION SWITCH AND CONNECT THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE SWITCH.INSTALL THE ROUND ANCHOR PLATE TO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL USING BUSHING TOOL 129589000700 OR EQUIVALENT.INSTALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDERCOVERS. for the plastic type.remove the ignition key .remove the plastic cap using a 0.04 inch hook wire.install the key and turn to position 1 push the detent and remove the lock cylinder. to install turn key to position 1 and insert the lock cylinder until the detent engages turn the key to position 0 and remove.mount the cap on the steering lock so the recess is positioned correctly. you have model 107 lock cylinder dont need lock cylinder tool.

How do you troubleshoot heater control valve in a 1992 Mercedes Benz 400SE?

put 12vdc to the two pins at the heater solenoid and listen for a click sound. that will test the solenoid motor. Unscrew the four screw and pull apart to check the rubber diaphram. Clamp off the hoses to minimize coolant loss. Sometimes they get stuck and the manual power that you put to them will free them up and start working again. The insert is available separately.

My a/c in my 92 400se mercedes doesnt blow cold air..besides repair the hole sysytem for 2900 what else can i do.

Depends, if you mean the evap then your stuck for sure. If its a small enough leak try vacuuming the system, buying industrial A/C stop leak and charge the sytem and run it. You may get lucky. You could always bite the bullet and take the dash out yourself and replace, cost you around 300 for parts as you want to replace the vacuum pods while you have the dash out.

1992 MB 400SE, A/C blow hot air by driver side and cold air passenger side vents

There is a valve to control the coolant to the heater core. You can identify this by looking at the hose connected to the coolant path. When it is bad it didn't close so hot coolant keeps flowing to your heater core when the AC is on causing hot air. It needs to be replace. Don't be fool by checking the resistance of the terminals since it may tell you the solenoid is still good. Why, since the valve is stuck inside, so even the solenoid is working but it could not pull the valve. Good luck.

The header has nothing to do with overheating. The first thing to check is the thermostat and make sure it's working properly. After that it is trial and error until you find the reason it's overheating. Hope it helps.
