Question about 2000 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

I just replaced the ECM in my car with a new one that I ordered from autozone. I also ordered the all-data disk from them which doesn't work ($26 down the drain). At any rate, the car won't start because of the security code that the new ECM hasn't seemed to relearn yet. Since I cannot access my all-data disk I cannot find the procedure for the relearn process for my 2001 Pontiac Bonneville. Help!

The ECM must be programmed according to the VIN. I suppose you did this already. In addition, I understand that the ignition transponder key must also be computer matched to the ECM. If not the car eill not even turn over. Good luck

I got a 09 pontiac g6 wont start.there is no crank no clicks when i turn the ignition on but the engine light is on

You have know idea how the starting system works , an with the engine light on your best bet would be to have it towed to a qualified repair shop .
When the ignition switch is turned to the Start position, the body control module (BCM) receives battery voltage on the ignition 1 voltage circuit, and less than 5 volts on the off/run/crank voltage circuit. The BCM supplies voltage to energize the RUN/CRANK Relay 32. The BCM sends a high speed GMLAN serial data message to the engine control module (ECM) that the key is in the start position. The ECM receives the message from the BCM, and also receives a serial data message from the transmission control module (TCM) containing the shift lever position. If the shift lever is in Park or Neutral when ignition switch is turned to Start, the ECM supplies voltage to the START Relay 31. The START relay supplies voltage to the S terminal of the starter solenoid, through the 30 A STRTR Fuse 26, in order to crank the engine.

How do you replace a ecm module on the 1998 dodge ram diesel 2500?

You can find a ecm at autozone but if not you can find one at the dealer, make sure that you handle this part with care, also make sure the ecm is ready to install, you need this things before installing the ecm latex gloves, you also need to ground your self to prevent any shock with ecm by doing this you need a wire with the one end to the ground of the car and the other end to your self you can buy one at autozone, NEVER TOUCH ECM WITH OUT GLOVES this is a very sensitive and delicate part, unplug the negative cable from battery then unplug all the wires from ECM unscrew the ecm and replace the new one, screw the new ecm plug in all the wires and connect the negative cable that's it your done good luck!!!!

1999 jimmy 4.3 has compression, new fuel pump, filter, complete spider all new from dist cap and rotor ing md,wires plugs ,gapped rigth. timed right, new crank sensor cranks , no fire will not run

check make sure you have 5 volts at crank sensor with ignition sw. on. if voltage is not present then check power to your ecm. you need to back probe ecm pin the check power source at ecm. ALL DATA.COM is a good source you need to pay to get the data you need.

If the ECM doesn't smell burnt or show any other signs of damage can I reset it?

There is no resetting of an ECM

Clearing data- if that is resetting to you

Use a code reader

If you got no dash lights on after the
motor starts, you should be okey, unless
you want to check for stored data from
the past

Heat not getting hot in 2001 expecdtion

Here's alink on how to replace heater core.http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?fromSearchPage=true&pageId=0996b43f802e74e7&partName=Removal+%26+Installation+5&partId=0996b43f802e74e7Could be 2 things, the thermostat is fully open causing your coolant not to heat up from the engine,or your heater core is bad, check the thermostat first, put a new one in regardless, don't cost much. Here's a link on how to replace thermostat.http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?fromSearchPage=true&pageId=0996b43f802e75c1&partName=Removal+%26+Installation&partId=0996b43f802e75c1

Check engine light is on something about the TAC?

Hi there:
DTC P0638 - Throttle actuator control range/performance
The engine control module (ECM) opens the throttle blades by applying a pulse width modulated voltage to the throttle valve motor. The ECM reverses the polarity on the throttle valve motor control circuits in order to close the throttle blades. The ECM increases the pulse width as necessary to open the throttle blades. The ECM monitors the throttle position (TP) sensors 1 and 2 to determine the actual blade position. If the ECM detects the required pulse width modulation (PWM) to move the throttle blade exceeds a predetermined value, DTC P0638 sets.

According with recalls...
REPAIR ACTION:
* Replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
* Perform the ECM software update.

NOTE :Always perform a GDS ECM Update by Automatic Mode first as it performs error checking to ensure the correct data is flashed into the vehicle. Always select the latest available ECM Update event data at time of your update.
