Sounds like the power steering is leaking, add power steering fluid and should be able to steer. More then likely it is the high pressure hose that is leaking. Hope this helped Tim

its common for some automakers to leak oil, run badly, break often, & otherwise be a plain hassle............I would suggest reading consumer reports before buying new or used cars.

Hard to steer when standing still.

Check up the steering system fluid and top up if necessary. Inspect the steering hydraulic system for leaks also. If you will find oil leaks repair & replace damaged pieces.

How do you bleed the Rack and Pinion for a 99 Hyundai Accent?

hi from uk if you are referring to power steering ? you do not bleed as you do brakes you preferably rais front wheels off ground then ensure vehicle supported then with engine running and the p/steer reservoir kept to full turn the steering from left to right fully for a few times this ensures any air in system is expelled from rack and hydraulic lines back to reservoir and out keep oil level check so level does not fall low as to air induction into system then lower car and check p/steer operation hope this helps ps make final check for any leaks for a couple of days as a precaution ?

Check the operation of the power steering system.
Check the power steer drive pump belt is ok,
Check fluid level of Pwr steer pump is ok.
No oil leaks should be evident on the power steer system.

Someone has this car for sale and he thinks the reason y it has an oil leak is the water pump.. he said it leaks oil from behindit

this may not directly apply but, buyer-be-ware, I would sooner believe it to be a bad camshaft and or crankshaft oil seal. Not overly difficult to replace if you are an avid do-it-yourselfer however if you would not tackle a timing belt or chain on your own you would want to steer clear of this one. Garages can charge heavily for this repair.

Oil leak--how bad is bad?

Doesn't sound serious yet. Take a good look for oil pan leaks, valve cover gasket leaks, oil filter, etc. just to know what it is. You may be able to get a clue from where the drops are.
