Question about 2006 Pontiac G6

Open Question

I have a 4 cylinder 2006 Pontiac G6. In the last few months it has been jerking while accelerating. Lately it has issues accelerating at all, It feels like it's running out of gas or something, most times will not go over 20-40 miles an hr and will barely make it going up a hill! I can't even think about taking it on the highway! When you first start it up is the worst, it will stall often and go like 10 miles an hr. but after driving it for a while it will pick up. The check engine light is on, and i've had some mechanics put it on the reader. Only sensors come up, which all i have since replaced, the issues have only got worse. I have no idea what to do next and cannot get a clear answer as to what is wrong. can you help -Keiara

SOURCE: engine light 2006 pontiac g6(reset)

first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it. SOURCE: car jerks while taking off; changed fuel filter

get a scan tool to retrieve the dtc (diagnostic trouble code).
you will get a misfire code.
p0301 for cyl 1
p0302 for cyl 2 and so on.
i can't recall if that engine has plug wires or coil on plug but if its coil on plug replace the coil corresponding to the cylinder misfire

Sluggish engine pontiac g6

Sounds like a transmission issue, have the car scanned for ant transmission related codes. Most transmission shops will check to make sure your transmission is working 100% free of charge. With what you have described, almost sounds like you don't have 1st or 4th gear and your transmission is running on 2nd and 3rd gear. Easy fix if the 1st-4th solenoid needs to be replaced, or the wire harness has gone bad. Start with getting your car scanned and let me know if your transmission is starting on 2nd. Good luck
