Question about 1996 Nissan 300ZX
I'm having problems with my '86 Nissan 300ZX, when I start the car it will not keep fuel pressure, it just idles horribly and I can't even put it into gear without it dying. I'm not sure if it is the fuel pump because when I turn the key and listen for the hum of the fuel pump, it sometimes turns on and sometimes it doesn't. But one thing is for sure and that is that it will not stay on. So I'm wondering if it could be something that controls whether the fuel pump is on or off. Or maybe I just need to get a new fuel pump entirely? Could the fuel pump relays have anything to do with this? If so where are they located and how do I get them out. Thanks in advance. I have replaced the fuel pump, when you turn on the key the pump operates but does not purge. The on board computer gives a different trouble code every time you check it.This started when I replaced the battery and the clutch. It appears to be flooding the car.1984 300 zx non turbo
It sounds like the pump is going bad, check the voltage at the pump to make sure that it is good and constant, if it is, then change the pump. To find the pump, follow the fuel line from your gas tank.
Let me know if you are having any trouble or have any other questions and I would be glad to help, just ask

If the car is a automatic then the connectors on the trans brain (located on the passenger side behind the spare tire) are getting wet. Try just wiggling them and see if it responds, if not unplug dry out and reassemble. Also fix where the water is coming in. I had this same prob and it drove me crazy.
