We have some very good experts here at Fixya. Some can tell you how to do just about anything, and for that I am so jealous. But even the best ones will need way more info. I have a very good book on this very Subject and the first thing I need to know is the year, make and model, also which engine and any options it may have. Sorry

Most likely one of the things that the belt drives is frozen. Check that your water pump, power steering pump, alternator, etc all turn without the belt.

Nearly all the steps are the same - including jacking the engine & removing the mount bolts. You can skip the part about changing the tensioner pulley if you are not replacing it.
I hope this helps!

Sorry for the delayed response. I am going back and answering unaswered questions. I do not know if you still need this information, however I am answering it in case you do.

Click on the following direct Link. It has several Diagrams for your Belts, based on your specific engine and options. These also include specific instructions on moving the Tensioner, in order for you to loosen and remove the Belt.
Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.Com!

If the belt was slipping or became contaminated with oil or coolant that should resolve the problem. Check the belt tension first before replacing the belt

Corolla Drive Belt.

It's not a serp belt on those, but instead two drive belts...one known as A/C Belt and the other known as the Alternator Belt and here is a link for detailed instructions for removing & installing the belts.. http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c152801a8cb4#hd1-1-4 --- Good luck

Nebettleed to change serpintine belt on a 2000 voltswagen

The easiest solution I can say would be to go to parts america or Advance Auto Parts during a non peak time and ask for help. These belts should be a 5 minute replacement and most store employees will enjoy offering you the free service just to get out of the store for a few minutes. SOME stores are more willing to help than others.

(If you over tighten the belt you will have problems and if you under tighten the belt you will have squeals. If you still wish to do this yourself just make sure the belt is tight enough that it only turns 90 degrees in the middle to the left of right when tightened.)
