The cam shaft position sensor is located right behind the exhaust cam by the fire wall. It is held by two 10 mm bolts, one on each side of the sensor. If you got the hood up and looking at the engine the cam that is on the right hand is the exhaust cam. To get to the CPS you have to remove the intake and cam top cover.

I own a 1998 Chevy Lumina, took it to Advance Auto. I know what one code is what does code P0341 mean and how can it be fixed?

Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

P0341 is a code for Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit. The first thing you need to do sense its a circuit code, is to change the Camshaft Position Sensor. I don't know what engine you have, but if its the 3.4 engine the sensor will be directly under the Power Steering Pump. Remove the pump and replace the sensor, clear the codes and hopefully the sensor does the fix. If not it could be in the wiring or engine controller. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website and give me a thumbs up. http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

The check engine light came on the car shakes when pressing on gas pedal

Take the vehicle to Auto Zone or Advance Auto and ask them to read the fault code for you and they will do it for free and tell you what part you need. Most likely this is a Crank Position Sensor or cam Position sensor but the code reader will tell you which one so you don't waste time or money on the wrong one.

you can either go to a dealer or advance auto, auto zone etc,.tell them you need the oil pressure linnes and fittings, parts houses will probably have universal oil pressure lines, may even be plastic tubing like water line for an icemaker on a refrig, hope this helped some, tell them your story too to help them get stuff you will need to fix.

My car is acting really weird..went to auto zone cause the engine light was on..they said it was because the camshaft position sensor was either bad or loose wires..i don't know what to do..its like...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If they scanned it with their tool and the cam sensor came up from the test, you need to replace the entire sensor. If they didn't scan your check engine light, have it done somewhere else. This light comes on when your computer detects a problem with your vehicle. Information sensors let the computer know what part is the cause of the trouble and it is stored inside the computer. You need to test your fuel pressure and do a spark test. It could be fuel related, such as a bad pump, filter, or injector. It may also be in the ignitions, such as plugs, coils, wires, cam sensor, or distributor and cap. This is why the scan is important to do, so you know which part it is.

I have a 96 chevy 1500 w a vortec 4.3L engine. Starts good and runns good until it warms up! After that there are multi misfires and will almost die! We have change the fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs,...

Here is some ideas coil pack, out of time, new wires, dist.cap, throttle position sensor, idle control valve, or take you air hose from air filter and check the wire screen inside you mass air flow sensor and make sure it's not plugged. That year of truck can be checked with a obd scan free at Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts.

2005 Neon engine light came on and stays on. Car drives okay. Has around 34,000 miles. No other problems

Take it to Autozone or Advanced auto and get an engine diagnostic and ask them to printout the results. Most times it's a sensor.

2.0L 2.4L it is on The BACK OF the Cylinder Head REMOVAL
The camshaft position sensor is mounted to the rear of the cylinder head.

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the PCV hose and reposition.
    1. Disconnect electrical connectors from the camshaft position sensor.
    2. Remove camshaft position sensor mounting screws. Remove sensor.
      1. Loosen screw attaching target magnet to rear of camshaft and remove magnet.
      INSTALLATION
The target magnet has locating dowels that fit into machined locating holes in the end of the camshaft.

      1. Install target magnet in end of camshaft. Tighten mounting screw to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) torque. Over torqueing could cause cracks in magnet. If magnet cracks replace it.
      2. Install camshaft position sensor. Tighten sensor mounting screws to 12.9 Nm (115 in. lbs.) torque.
      3. Carefully attach electrical connector to camshaft position sensor. Installation at an angle may damage the sensor pins.
