Question about 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Mopar remote start issue. It was installed by the dealer and worked fine for a while but now It will try to start, (radio comes on, seat moves forward, etc,) and i can hear clicking noise from under the hood, but it never actually tries to start the car, and just beeps twice. I don't think it is a hood switch issue because if i open the hood to engage the switch and try to start, it come back immediatly with 2 beeps. With hood closed i can hear clicking noise and it takes a few seconds before i get 2 beeps back.

Could you be a little more specific? What is a bonnet? Are you talking about the reley's under the hood?

  • tobin_kevin Oct 16, 2010

    Hi,

From looking through the installation instructions, the only reley mentioned is the horn reley, so im not sure where to look. Also there is no connection to the starter. There is a connection to the ignition coil, is this what you are talking about?

    Thanks

Many of these remote start units are defective or the install was done with the wrong type of connectors and a poor connection is the problem, suggest the best thing to do is have the dealer who installed it take a look at their work.

The clicking sound you are hearing is the relay to start the car. I would check for power on both sides of the relay. You should have 12 volts to both sides of the relay to send power to the starter. The relay is clicking but not closing and sending power to the starter.

Replaced battery on 2002 chrysler sebring now i have no sound from radio

Believe it or not, lots of people on the Chrysler Forum have had the same problem! One guy said, "I have a 2004 Pt cruiser with a factory Mopar radio and 6-cd player. I disconnected the car battery for about 2 hours and replaced it with a new battery. Following that the Mopar radio doesn't show the Cd-player as a selectable option.

I found this statement in a ebay listing for a sound shop selling used Mopar cd players like mine ...

This model radio may need to be programmed at the dealer for it work properly. The dealership will actually program the radio to the vehicle so they can communicate together. The estimated cost to program one of the radio to your vehicles is $45.00 but check with your local dealer for a quote. We do NOT accept returns on radios for this PURPOSE so be sure to research before buying."

Here is the site, but it sort of looks like the dealer has to program the radio. WHAT?!!!! http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chrysler-town-and-country/TI14P6LNCF47UC82R

I hope this helps you out!

With the brake on move shifter to N and try to start the engine.
You may have to move it between P and N few times to check the contacts of the neutral safety switch.

The neutral safety switch will going back.

Remote start does not work

henryj153, no offence guy, but if you dont know something, dont try and give advice. Now for the guy with the problem mattpointer:
These cars come with remote start as an option, and it is problably your BCM (Body Control Module), which is a $380 part, and the dealer has to install it, because of the programing... Here is a free way of checking if that is it. This part ties in certain vehicle systems, and for some reason when the BCM goes bad, so does the GPS, that is tied in with OnStar Check to see if your onstar can recieve GPS... press the blue OnStar button and ask them to locate you. If you dont have the service, they may want to start the service, just humor them as if you were interested, and ask them to locate you first, because you want to make sure the equiptment works. If they cant locate you, but you are able to use OnStar to contact them, most likely The BCM is bad, and thats what it is. This car has some great technology, but the intergration of this tech is in the BCM, and it goes bad.... so its a trip to the dealer for you my friend.

My mopar dealer installed remote starter in my 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport sets off the alarm at times. It has also acted up by not starting the vehicle at all but yet it turns all the electronics on. It seems...

there are different sensitivity settings for the system as well if you have tilt wheel the wires over time tend to bend and become brittle as well as break from use this i assure you is notorious with tilt wheel however the "remote start should not be disconnected instead looked at to ensure it is properly installed ...this is a feature that i have recently installed on my own vehicle ...the wiring is connected into the ignition system and into the lights as well one wire to the coil it should be white ...the remote is a box with wires under the steering column it may be possible a wire was incorrectly installed or the sensitivity level to your alarm needs adjustment sometimes if the level is too low ..the wind will cause it to go off or a stray cat , a pine-cone falling etc ...but the dealer should be able to remedy the issue as this is under warranty

I have a CD STUCK in my 2004 dodge Durango. How

1st try to hit the eject button multiple times in a row. If this doesn't work you have 3 options.
1= pull the radio unit, disassemble case, gingerly remove CD, and reassemble.
2=Go to dealer or repair shop and have them remove. If you have a warranty left, mopar should be able to help. Factory radios have been a problem with Mopar for years.
3= Go buy a new CD and forget about it

Seat only works sometimes

You could have an issue with the body control module (BCM), GM can test it for proper function of the seats, there is no common problem so a trip to the dealer is good idea on this one.

The drivers seat is stuck. It won't move forward or backward but all other seat functions work fine.

This is a seat slide motor assembly problem. I worked for an Infiniti dealer for many years as a service advisor, and this was a common issue on these vehicles. Most of the time you can take the **** end of a screwdriver and tap on the motor from the front of the seat and it should start working. It may work for a while but it will most certainly stop, how soon depends on how far gone it is. Eventually it will quit working altogether and tapping it won't work either. As a service advisor we probably replaced a hundred of those things. Last I knew the part was about 280.00 and about an hour labor. I would not take it to someone who doesn't really know Infiniti though as you may get the car back with an air bag light flashing or something. Dealers really don't try to rip people off, they generally want to do the right thing as they want you to come back for all your problems, keep that in mind.
