it like 50 steps.

  • battery neg lug off..
  • drain xfr case then transmission. 4wd guessing, i am
  • drop drive shafts.
  • drop drop cross members (i did a 88 last jeep done)
  • put tranny jack in place. below trans.
  • all cables and hoses, connnectors off trans and transfer case,(obvious) OFF
  • remove bell bolts bottom and top last. (avoid cantilevering trans off bottom bolts )
  • slide trans back,
  • end story, as the remainder is abvious back in.

is this your first, trans?
if yes, youtube 100s of others first, then ask questions.

Replaced engine in an 88 Jeep Wrangler with a 4.2 out of an 87 jeep wrangler. Now the starter does not compleatly disengage. What would cause this?

There are only a couple of things that would cause that...Either you have the wrong flywheel (different offset) or it's in backwards (not possible if stick shift) or the starter is slightly different. Only other thing is that while you were doing the work, the starter drive rusted and is not returning properly.
If the drive is fully retracting then I'd suspect any of the other things I listed.
I'm assuming that is mechanically remaining engaged and not that the relay is staying energized?
Only option is to either take it apart again or shim the starter away from the bellhousing. I don't like doing that though because it lessens the amount of leverage it takes to break the starter nose.

I have a 1991 jeep wrangler that the starter bolts are completely stuck. the heads on the bolts are striped and ive tried wd40, knocker loose, and liquid wrench but they arent even moving at all. i need...

if you still have the heads for the bolts showing, use a "stilson"to undo the bolts then renew them.next time use a ring spanner or a socket.NEVER use an open ended spanner, unless the bolt/nut is LOOSE. (another "trick" is to weld a nut to the head of the bolt.)

Does a 1998 Jeep wrangler starter require a shim? Replacement starter is leaving a 3/8 " gap when mounted.

You likely don't need shims in fact that will make it worse. The replacement starter is likely a starter that will work on your vehicle but is not the same model as the starter that you removed. If this is the case then you will need shorter mounting bolts or a stack of about 4 washer between the bolt heads and the starter.Usually the rebuilt starters are made from cores that are the cheapest to rebuild so it is likely that this is what has happened.

Cant get starter out in a 2001 jeep wagler 2.5 litter 4

Once you remove the starter mounting bolts and wires from the solenoid, the starter should pull right out and allow you to drop it down.
If you have a 3.7 it will take some more dis-assembly, but you have a 4 cylinder.

How do i change a oil pan geskrt in a 94 jeep wrangler/

On most, you need to remove all bolts around the perimeter of the pan, (You may want to remove starter to get to fasteners there) then slide a paint scraper between the pan and block to break the seal. Generally there is enough room to get the pan out. If you need a bit more room, support the transmission with a jack (use a piece of plywood on top to avoid bending anything) remove both engine mount through bolts and raise engine slightly (not too much or you will break something)
