With battery ground disconnected and positive connected if i take a voltage tester and touch from battery ground to chassis ground i get 12.52 volts, just what the battery tests,+ to -.

Are you sure you were touching the negative post and not the positive post. If you checked the positive post and the other wire to body chassis then you should get the reading you say here. Negative to negative is negative and you should have had no reading at all. Please do this test again being absolutly posative your touching the negative post. There will be a - sign on the battery under that post. Get back to me after the double check, Raz

Attempting to locate positive battery cable for 2007 impala ltz

The positive will be marked with a (+) symbol as will the NEG (ground) cable be with a (-) symbol. secondly the positive terminal post will be larger than the negative post . I advise you to get a simple test light (or make one) , Every metal part of the body/engine etc will be NEGATIVE (Cable bolted to ground/ vehicle body) Hope this helps

2007 dodge charger won't turn over

probably not, your car is not grounded, so there is no path to ground, thus lightning would not harm it. on the other hand, are you sure that your battery is new and not shorted and that you charged it with the positives and negatives the right way?
