disconnect the battery, drain the radiator, remove the radiator hose from the thermostat housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose, detach the cover from the engine, note the thermostat direction and remove it, clean the mounting surface, install new gasket fill the cooling system and run the engine checking for leaks

SOURCE: where is the thermostat in a 2000 mazda 626?

Follow the top hose from your radiator to where it goes into the engine block, it should be located right under where you attach the hose to the block. Usually 2 bolts should be able to remove to cover. Pay attention to how it is seated and which dicetion the flow is so you can replace the new exactly the same way.

Where is the thermostat located in my 1995 mazda 626

The thermostat is located on the engine block, where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine. You'll see a large elbow-like component that is attached to the engine with 2 bolts.
Just follow that upper radiator hose and you got the location. When you remove that housing (elbow-like component), you'll see the thermostat.
Make sure you note which end of the thermostat is up and which end is down. Don't reverse the install.
