Hi mackus

There is always a little freeplay in the front bearings that drive out the nrake pads after appliction. Checking the throwout of the front wheel bearings may be prudent. A little graphite grease to the front disc brake rotors may also help with the squeaking. Oil leaks are generally a matter of just cleaning the engine thouroughly, and then any ongoing leaks should present themselves. Having said this, it is never that easy. But al least there should be an idea of where to look.

How do I remove the steering wheel on my 04 Jaguar Xtype awd? It's loose and I want to tighten it but can't get the airbag removed to get to the center but.

the airbag is held on by 2 plastic clips, they are shaped like a claw to release them you need a flat blade screwdriver to gently seperate the 2 parts of the claw. (there is a jaguar special tool for the job} insert the driver through the holes in the back of the steering wheel and twist 90 degrees. turn the wheel quarter turn to gain access.pull gently on the airbag at the same time, you need the driver to be the correct size its a bit of a pig to do, make sure you disconnect the battery first. the airbag electrical connectors are delicate so be careful, good luck

WHERE IS THE BEST POSITION TO JACK 2004 JAGUAR X-TYPE TO CHANGE THE ENGINE OIL?

Hey GUY,
The best way to safely lift your Jaguar is to use a wheel lift / car hoist.
The guys at the quicky lube use a pit ... which is even better yet!

My s type jaguar pirelli tyre is losing 15 lb pressure evry week tyre is in ecellent overall condition how can this be fixed

Rims can have tiny cracks too. A water test, where the wheel is completely submerged might show the source of the leak.

I have 2004 x-type jag and need to know what the key looks like to take the tire off

I assume you wish to remove the wheel, not the tyre.
Look at the wheel and you will see an odd looking wheel nut, imagine the shape that is requred to go over this, and this is the inside of what looks like a socket with a hex head sticking from it.
It's about 1.8" high. normally located in the boot (trunk) under the carpet on the RHS nearest you.
you can find a picture here:- http://www.shopadilly.co.uk/Auctions/jaguar%20locking%20wheel%20nut%20key.

Jaguar xj 2003 oil leak

hey stuart1945,

Their is now real common oil leaking problems on xj that i have seen over the years. I would said if i was forced to pick one, i would first check the valve cover gaskets. I think that would be the most likely. I know this isnt a x-type but they leak from the engine oil pan all the time, i would check there next.

Another thing i would suggest if you really dedicated to find this oil leak and your have a hard time finding it. Is get some oil dye, a black light and some glasses. You can get these at almost any part store, the oil dye will light up when you shine a black light on it. Hopefully this helps you good, good luck, let me know if you need more help
