SOURCE: Fuel pump

Not a simple problem, the fuel pump has most likely burned up. The pump uses the gas to keep it cool, and will continue to run until it has built up the correct pressure.

just because injector test ok electricly that doesnt mean its working right if the tip is plugged instead of sprayying a fine ignitable mist of gas it just drips out if this happens the gas wont ignite and you get a wet plug. you can switch injectors from one cylinder to anther or you can just replace #7 let me know how you make out with this

SOURCE: I have a cadallic escadale. It will turn over but wont start.

The fuel pressure should be 60 to 65psi in your system with the engine not running and fuel line primed, (ignition key's to the run position). Once engine is running the fuel pressure should drop by 5psi, change the fuel filter and recheck the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. it's known for the fuel pump to fail when the gas tank runs low or out of gas, the pump will end up burning it self out since the gas is what keeps the electric fuel pump cooled. The other thing to is putting gas through the top of the throttle body to start the engine on the SEFI is a NO NO, well a BIG NO NO. it's been know for the gas in the intake to catch fire and burn up the poppet valve in the injection system causing the replacement of the fuel injection system. Keep me posted and good luck, be gald to help you get your truck running again for the july 4th. OH and it was not mentioned but did the fuel filter get replaced???

SOURCE: i have a 99 escalade

there should be 2 power and 2 grounds. gray is for the gas gauge, power all the time. purple is fuel pump power, you need another person to cycle the key while you test it with a voltmeter. it will show battery volt and then drop to zero. that means that the relay is working. make sure that the black is on the black lead of the volt meter. test both blacks to see if your losing a ground. the main ground for the pump is on the frame near the tank. test these first and let us know what happens. best of luck

2009 Cadillac Escalade ESV Issues ?!!!

Drop the gas tank and check for contamination/corrosion. You're going to have to do that to replace the fuel level sender anyway and check both the fuel pump (it's in the tank) and the primary filter on the pickup tube.

How to Replace a Fuel Pump and Fuel Filter in a Cadillac

The Cadillac has an electric fuel pump, and you should check its fuses and relays and ensure you have fuel before inspecting the pump. If your vehicle still has difficulty getting fuel, you can clean or replace the fuel pump.

Things You'll Need:
Fuel pump kit
Fuel tank sending unit wrench
Torque wrench Replace the fuel pump is challenge.
1.Determine which fuel pump your Cadillac Escalade will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models built from 1998 to 2000 have a 5.7 L engine, 2002 to 2006 models may have a 5.3 L or 6.0 L engine and models built after 2006 have a 6.2 L engine.
2.Prepare your vehicle for fuel pump servicing. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Relieve the fuel system pressure, drain and disconnect the fuel tank.
3.Disconnect the fuel and evaporative emission lines from the fuel tank. Remove the fuel sender assembly and the seal with a fuel tank sending unit wrench, and pull the strainer off the fuel sender. Remove the fuel pump's electrical connector and its retaining clip from the fuel level sensor. Remove the fuel sensor's electrical connector from the fuel sensor in addition to its retaining clip.
4.Remove the fuel level sensor by squeezing the locking tangs and remove the fuel pressure sensor. Discard the old fuel tank seal and fuel strainer.
5.Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit and be to replace the fuel strainer and seal. Use a torque wrench to tighten the attaching bolts for the fuel tank strap to 30 ft. lbs.
The following is the instructions of replacing fuel filter:
The symptoms of a bad fuel filter include a loss in horse power, very sluggish acceleration and, in some cases, difficulty starting. Replacing the fuel filter is always the best policy because you can't reliably unclog a filter. In the Cadillac Escalade, 2002-2006, they replace easily. The 5.3L engine filter replaces in a different way. Manufacturers suggest replacement of fuel filter every 60,000 miles.
Replace the fuel filter is easy.
1.Locate the fuel filter. Normally this is on the passenger side wheel well or just inside the engine compartment. In the Cadillac Escalade, it mounts on the fuel tank and is integral with the fuel pump assembly. Before removal of the filter, disconnect the negative battery cable and relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
2.Lift the vehicle to gain access to the fuel pump assembly. Remove the threaded fittings from the filter and cap the fuel pipes to prevent contamination. Inspect the o-rings on the fuel pipes and replace if deteriorated.
3.Change the filter and reattach the fittings immediately. Tighten the fittings to 18 foot pounds. Remount to the clip and lower the vehicle. Reconnect the negative battery cable and start the ignition. To fill the filter and get gas to the ignition system, turn the ignition on for two seconds and then off for ten seconds. The vehicle should start after this.
4.Replace the fuel filter at the first opportunity. Filters are not serviceable items, they are disposable. Never rely on a clogged fuel filter for any length of time

New fuel pump and still wont start

do you hear fuel pump operation if yes replace fuel filter.if you dont hear fuel pump running could have open short in fuel pump harness or could have faulty fuel pump relay faulty automatic shut down relay, fuse or PCM.if fuel system okay check for spark at spark plugs no spark could have faulty ignition coil, camshaft sensor or crankshaft position sensor.

No start but cranks and has fuel pressure

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

How do I change the fuel pump on a 2000 Acura TL?

hi, when you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump start up if you do then the pump is fine if how ever you hear nothing then the chances are its going to either be the fuel pump or fuel pump relay, if you have a look in your fuse box you should be able to find the fuel pump relay if you cant locate it then its best you get a manual to show you the relays location, you can then put a finger on the relay and when you turn the ignition on you should feel a little click coming from the relay if you hear this then the pump needs replacing but if you hear or feel nothing then the chances are the relay needs replacing.

you can also check if the pump is working by removing the fuel feed hose from the injector fuel rail then once this is removed you put a tub under it then turn the ignition on if you have fuel shooting out then you know the fuel pump and relay are ok and you need to start thinking of some other problem such as ecu etc,

see what you find then get back to me and ill try and assist you further ok

Fuel pump does not come on. car wont start

Then you must have a wiring problem at the rear tank electrical connector or at the fuel pump.

Fuel Pump & Sender Connector - Description & Operation
The fuel level sensor consists of a float, a wire float arm, and a ceramic resistor card. The position of the float arm indicates the fuel level. The fuel level sensor contains a variable resistor that changes resistance in correspondence with the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. The PCM sends the fuel level information via the Class II circuit to the Instrument Panel (I/P) cluster. This information is used for the I/P fuel gage and the low fuel warning indicator, if applicable. The PCM also monitors the fuel level input for various diagnostics.

CAUTION Fuel Vapors can collect while servicing fuel system parts in enclosed areas such as a trunk. To reduce the risk of fire and increased exposure to vapors: - Use forced air ventilation such as a fan set outside of the trunk. - Plug or cap any fuel system openings in order to reduce fuel vapor formation. - Clean up any spilled fuel immediately. - Avoid sparks and any source of ignition. - Use signs to alert others in the work area that fuel system work is in process.
Removal & Installation

  1. Remove the fuel sender assembly.
  2. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector.
  3. Remove the fuel level sensor electrical connector retaining clip.
  4. Disconnect the fuel level sensor electrical connector from under the fuel sender cover.
  5. Remove the fuel level sensor retaining clip.
  6. Squeeze the locking tangs and remove the fuel level sensor.

Fig. The fuel sender assembly consists of the following major components: fuel tank pressure sensor (1); fuel line fittings (2); fuel tank fuel pump module (3); fuel strainer (4); fuel level sensor (5)
To install:
  1. Install the fuel level sensor.
  2. Install the fuel level sensor retaining clip.
  3. Connect the fuel level sensor electrical connector.
  4. Install the fuel level sensor electrical connector retaining clip.
  5. Connect the fuel pump electrical connector.
  6. Install the fuel sender assembly.

There are two ways to do this; One: you can find the wire that is behind the brake booster or around the fender on the drivers side near the back. It will be a red wire that has an end on it that looks like a plug, but its not plugged to anything. This is what this wire is for, so you will need to hook 12 volts to it, and you will hear the fuel pump come on. Allow it to run for about 10-15 seconds, and unhook it. The engine should now start & run fine. Second: you can purchase a spray can of carb/choke cleaner at a parts store, remove the air cleaner hose going to the intake/throttle body. Hold the throttle wide open, and spray about 4-5 seconds directly into the throttle body. Move the can back, and start the engine. It will run for a few seconds, and stall again. Repeat this until it runs on its own.

Hope help with this.

Ran out of gas inmy 2009 escalade. Put approx 2 gal in and it started. i went just a block or so and after hearing a strange noise felt as though I was running out of gas ,I pulled over. Put more gas in...

bleed the injector / fuel rail, a small valve that looks almost like a tire valvestem, turn the ignition from off to on a couple of times and use a small screwdriver to push down the valve
( make sure you are messing with the fuel system and not the AC!) also be aware that highly pressurized fuel may come out. the symptoms you describe are also that of a fuel pump going out.
