failed rear engine mounts

jumping out of gear is when the mating gears are not exactly in line and the slight angle makes one gear walk out of mesh with the other.

1988 Dodge Dynasty. Auto transmission. Gear indicator pointer on dash is off by one position. It reads 'R' when it's actually in park. Or 'N' when its actually in D. How do I correct that?

Adjust the linkage to reposition the indicator over the right letter. Some of the linkage may be worn and this is allowing the indicator to be out.

adjust the linkage for the gear - typically at the transmission. I've never worked on Jaguar before, but most all vehicles have similar adjustment

How do I fix a mis-aligned gear selector? It says its in park, but won't start, and wont start in neutral either. So I think it has something to do with that or the linkage. Any suggestions?

check the linkage alignment on the transmission. Alot of vehicles have a cable that attaches to the steering column and the cable runs up to the speedo cluster to the select indicator you may be able to slide it on the column and adjust it.
