Question about 1991 Honda Civic

1 Answer

My grandson put a manual transmission into his 1991 Civic and removed the automatic. He thought he bought the correct rear transmission mount but the engine doesn't sit level. The rear of the transmission seems to be sitting about 1 and 1/2 inches too high. Does Honda make the correct transmission mount for this installation or does it have to be obtained through and aftermarket supplier. Is the mounting location in the car, on the car frame, the same for both automatic and manual?

Whats the sensor that is under the distributor on a 1991 honda civic ex?.my car doesnt start without that. also from 1st to 2nd gear my car feels like it slips out of gear and shakes or something..does...

I think you mean the distributor ignition module
If you have an automatic transmission it probably
a vacuum advance valve/Sensor hose may be missing or
defective. You can probably find the manual at your local
library

How do u remove a 1991 honda accord engine

Get some boxes, bags and a sharpie marker to put things in and label them if this is your first time. Disconnect and remove battery and metal battery tray, unplug ALL wires and lines that connect to engine including AC lines that are in the way and the throttle cable and cruise control cable. Keep the plug wires hooked to your distributor so you don't lose your firing order. Drain radiator and remove it. Remove the top hose and use the long lower hose to push over the outlet where the top hose was to contain what is left in the radiator. Automatic cars will require disconnection of the transmission cooler lines from the bottom of the radiator. Open gas cap before disconnecting fuel line on intake to relieve pressure. Remove front wheels and separate bottom ball joints from lower control arms on each side, separate both outer tie rod ends from knuckle. Drain transmission fluid, pop out both axles from transmission. They can hang. Disconnect shifting linkage. Disconnect exhaust down pipe (or) disconnect tailpipe at the end of braided hose just before the catalytic converter. Mainly, get it to where the motor is just sitting there in the cradle with nothing holding it but motor mounts. Hook a chain to the pick bracket on the head near the power steering pump and to the one on the transmission. Feel free to remove the 17mm bolts in each mount as well as any brackets for these mounts that obstruct your ability to pull it up out. I have found that pulling it out on an angle with the transmission being lower helps your mood! The 4 motor mount locations are as follows: Front Center - Left - Right - Rear Center. If you are replacing this 90-91 engine with a 92-93 you will need to reuse your AC compressor and it's bracket, the down pipe and the header and the wiring harness on the engine.

Need to install a new head gasket on a 1995 honda civic dx model with a 1.5 liter engine- automatic transmission- i would like to be able to print out instructions and pictures to do the work myself.

You dont need a print out all you need a bit of thought and a set of tools and what you do is to Drain radiator, then remove rocker cover /all parts on head inc exhaust manifold /air filter and manifold etc then the belt and all parts till you get to head bolts and remove them and head assy send head away for checking and replace all parts in reverse of removal
same order and refill with coolant and start BUT
Make sure the timing belt is timed correctly

Trying to convert my 1994 honda civic coupe into a manual transmission from automatic. Any advice with that?

there are two type of transmission for your 94 civic it's better prefered to use the one with a clutch pump rather than the one with clutch cable their mounting are almost the same and the shift linkage should come in complete set
