Question about 2003 Kia Sorento

1 Answer

I have a kia 2003 sorento. I had an oil change at 60,000. My water pump locked up, the vehicle jumped time and bent the valves on the engine. Is this expensive to fix? , are the parts expensive? (my mechanic wants $1400) will this be honored by the 100,000 power train warranty. I just paid $1279 for the above mentioned repairs. I cant afford this.

    Hi:

I don't understand the latter part of your solution. I am the only owner. Yes the car is 7 years old, but I maintained it as scheduled.

Head gasket set (diesel) complete 90euros valves 22 euros each and about 2 days work plus cost of belt 45 euros ,so its not an expensive job but i did do a diesel version no petrols around here .as for warranty i do think you can kiss your you know what for this though ,come on its 7 yrs old and could have been clocked 3 times at least by now with dodgy owners and motor traders

well normally a 7 yr old vehicle could have had at least 3 owners and often the first owner is a company with their own workshops and when they sell the reps cars they clock them ,then the secondhand car dealers who buy a vehicle in auction clock them as well .Fact of life and its very difficult to stop in the first 3/4 years because no check is kept till it has its first mechanical inspection then a one every year

03 kia sorento Engine knocking after replacing water pump oil pump and timing belt

Who did the work? take it back. If it's DIY double check your work. Knoking as in metalic engine , or knocking as in gas preignition. If gas preignition, timing belt is off a few notches. If it's similar to this google: 2003 kia sorento interference engine
You may have valve timing off so much that your pistons are running into the valves. Bad news!

Does v6 sorento have timing belt

Your 06 Kia, with 3.5L engine V-6, has a timing belt, Kia recommends replacing every 60,000 miles, this is an interference engine, which piston to valve damage will occur due to timing belt failure, hope this was very helpful.
