Oil galleries mite hav got plug or pump cudda failed causing no lubricant to the cams--on a benz Im not sure how deep the procedure is to get to chain but theres always that chance of hurting other components--ask the shop or du an investigation for legal purposes

Should the timing chain come off when replacing the heads ?

whenever working on an engine with overhead cams, the timing chain will be removed when replacing heads ,then reinstalled when heads are installed and timing must be performed to insyre engine runs properly or you might run into some seriuos engine damage.now if the chain came off after engine was reassembled then i would believe something was not tightened or chain was not checked for damege or wear when it was off.

No you just need to have the tappet cover removed and replace one bolt at a time. just don't over tighten them, if they fail while the engine is running - major engine damage can occur

If u replace timing chain in a 2002 ford explore will the engine go bad?~~~~~~~HELP<HELP<) how much iz it to replaace?

No, it wont cause the engine to go bad. If the timing chain or belt breaks, that can do major damage to the head. It usually cost around six hundred dollars to have it replaced. If you do it yourself just the cost of parts. Here are the INSTRUCTIONS for replacing it to give you an idea of what's involved.

Does the 2000 silverado v8 have a timing chain and if so at what milage should it be replaced

yes the silverado's have timing chains, just about all v6's and v8's have timing chains, and timing chains should not be serviced, unless you are having problems with a timing chain guide or timing chain tensioner

Does the volvo 2000 s40 have a timeing belt or timeing chain?

The 1.9 Liter has a cam belt which MUST be replaced at 105,000 miles. Also replace the water pump which is driven by the cam belt to save labor costs later one. This is an INTERFERENCE engine and as such if the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage. Therefore do not neglect this service.

Timing chain for toyota yaris

What is the issue you are having? Chains do strech but to to the point of failure there should be some major performance issues. If there is a lack of oil changes this could cause premature chain failure.

Low oil level will cause the tensioner to not work adequitly.

Also I have replaced the VVTi controller on the intke cam a few times for lack of performance, always has trouble codes to go along with poor performance tough.

Merces benz c230 timing chain replacement procedure

so it takes some Pin pullers, or a litlte bit of messing around witth proper sized (heavy duty) bolt to pull the pins, i cannot seem to find the timing marks on mine once i got it offand want to put back on, i have a chilton and it doesnt help. if you buy the 100 -200 dolar shop manual from bentley it would probably be quite simple :)

pull, pins, timing cover, water pump, solenoid, etc. to get to timing cover, uppe and lower, pull valve cover, and loosen cam (exhaust side) to get chain off. :)

2002 Nissan Frontier timing belt

Timing belts are found on the 3.3L engines, timing chains are on the 2.4L engines. The 2002 3.3L Timing belt is changed at 105K during the major service. This service can run over one thousand dollars. It is recommended to replace the belt, tensioner and idlers, cam and crank seals, water pump, and both belts when changing the timing belt. That way, you only open up the front of the engine every 105K. Why change the timing belt and have a water pump start leaking only 20K later and ruin the belt with antifreeze? Other items during the 105K are a major tune up with all the fluids changed and a lube. This does get expensive. You can break it up into several blocks of time and spread the related service items out over a few months to take some of the sting off.
