Question about 1989 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

The brakes on my Japanese import 1989 lotus bighorn have a serious problem. hey work on the first press of the pedal but don't respond on the second press at all. The more times you press the pedal the harder it gets and the brakes do not respond at all. I suspect it either to be the servo or the pump on the alternator. The biggest issue is that I cannot find any of the parts I need to replace as they are either hugely expensive or simply not available. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mark.

Usually when the breaks are not responding after the second application would lead me to the brake booster itself.............Hope this helps.

I HAVE A 2004 AZTEK AND HAVE VIBRATION WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL. WHAT CAUSES THIS?

you don't say where the noise is. that is important to give a clue where the issue is. when stopping on the brakes 3 things happen. you press the pedal and the abs pump starts pumping fluid. the second is the brake capilers start pushing on the rotors to slow the car. the rotors are attached to the wheels and that stops the car. so if the rotors are warped you will feel a vibration in the steering wheel when stepping on the brakes. if its your foot feeling the pump working that is normal for abs pumping. you should feel it and holding the pedal will keep it working and stop you from skidding if everything is working correctly

Problem with terrano brakes

sounds like a faulty master cylinder. be careful driving it....
replacement/rebuilt parts are relatively inexpensive.
If you don't know how to bleed brakes, get a mechanic to replace it.

Isuzu bighorn year 1995, not changing gear after 1st gear

This is the classic symptom of a vehicle with a failed torque converter lockup solenoid.
The lockup solenoid "locks up" the transmission to the drivetrain but only operates when the transmission progresses from first gear to second gear.

I have no brake lights in my 1989 chrysler new yorker but have every other lights whats the problem?

Check the stop light switch down by the brake pedal. there's 2 wires going to the switch. when the pedal is pressed the little button on the switch comes out and causes the brake lights to come on. Try unplugging it and putting a jumper wire in the plug to complete the circuit. Second guess: if the car is rusted, check the wires in the trunk above the wheels.

Jeep Cherokee ABS light is on and now no brakes

Hi laustiin,
When the ABS system fails the brakes revert to standard brakes. The ABS module will not repair this for you.
The master cylinder is not likely to change anything either.
I am assuming that the pedal is full since you didn't say otherwise.
Your problem is most likely the brake booster. pump the brakes several times with the engine off to relieve any built up vacuum. While pressing down on the brake pedal start the engine. If the booster is working properly the pedal will move slightly down then press back against your foot. If it doesn't do this replace the booster.
If this doesn't help reply with more information and I will try to help you out.
Good Luck
