Remove the radio and check to see if the illumination wire became disconnected. It is a pink wire.

The vehicles wire is pink. If you used an aftermarket wiring harness for the radio, the harness wire should be the same color. If you just cut wires and hooked them up directly from the car to the radio, the radio wire or the radio itself will have a sticker on it, telling you which wire is for what purpose, i.e. the black wire is for ground and so on ans so forth.

Dear Golem ;; i checked the wires..there are 12 connected to the radio..and two not connected orange other is place for them in the radio to connect... and suddenly the orange one touched the ground had a spark..then no dashboard light..:(
please tell me what to do..thanks my friend

That spark more than likely blew a fuse. Check the fuses, and replace the blown ones with the properly rated fuse. For example, if it was a 15 amp fuse, replace it with a 15 amp fuse. If you replace it with a 10 amp fuse it will blow from too much power passing through it. If you replace it with a higher amperage fuse, you could damage whatever that fuse was for.

By the way, here is a website you can go to for a diagram of the stereo wires for your vehicle. Just type in your vehicle and go to stereo wiring diagram.

  • maher shwagfeh Oct 18, 2010

Dear Golem..i checked all fuses..all are ok..but still the same problem.

Now that we have ruled out the fuse, time to dig a little deeper. Since this is an electrical issue, it's going be a little tougher to diagnose. Grab a volt meter and check to see if you are getting power to the fuse for the dash. A fusible link? Also check the dimmer switch itself to see if it got damaged.

Dear so thankfull for you...i found the answer :
there was a big fuse not ( like the Relay )..was not connected because of the spark...
the electrician just push it and everything is ok..
for the dimmer.. there are two black wires from the car , connected to one black wire from the i must disconnect one from the two black wires of the the dimmer is working properly..
many many thanks my friend :)

My car audio system, an original toyota radio, has buttons for both Tape and CD but only a Tape slot, what could the CD button be for?

If that was the case, the face of the radio would open up exposing the CD slot when you push the button, maybe the face is stuck.

Cassette is stuck in hyundai sonata 2003. eject button doesn't work no more. you can hear the unit trying to eject whenever i try to start the car or push the eject button.

The only way to get the cassette out is to take the radio out and take it apart. The 'eject' mechanism has malfunctioned and will not allow you to remove the cassette normally.... SORRY!
