If your transmission is automatic, it probably has a vacuum controlled modulator located on the passenger side near the front of the transmission. It is a round component witha vacuum nipple on it's end and connects to a manifold vacuum source.

Automatic Transmission doesn't have a drain plug you must drop the lower pan to drain the trans,Then fill from the dipstick tube.

I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy that won't start.

It sounds like a faulty fuel pressure regulator. When you turn the key to the on position the fuel pump starts for an instant to build pressure in the fuel line. If the pressure regulator has allowed too much leakage since the last start then the fuel pump does not have enough time to prime the line. The fuel pressure will still measure ok when the car is running because the leakage is very low. Try turning the key off and on a few times prior to starting and see if the extra pump priming steps help. Also check the vacuum line to the regulator because it needs vacuum to work correctly.

I have a 1995 gmc jimmy 4x4 vortec engine and can not get it to 3

If it's a manual transmission, it's the bushings under the gear shift that a beat out of it. If it's an automatic, check you fluid level and filter. It may not be able to build enough pressure in the tranny if the filter is clogged or isn't enough fluid.

4wd not working even though light indicates it's on

i have the same problem as well, but this is the solution i have found, which i have yet to try.

"look under the battery for th4 4x4 servo. it looks like a cruise control servo.
or could be the vac switch in the t-case. thses trucks were know for the vac switch to go bad. whick would cause it to **** tranny fluid into the vac lines to the servo. whick cause's the rubber to get soft and weak. which would cause it to not hold vac or tear the rubber."

from S-10 forums.

Please leave a reply to clarify if this fixes your problem as well.

2000 GMC Jimmy Transmission Whine

Does it sound like a loud winding sound coming from the front right side? I have a 2001 Jimmy and the 4wd tries to engage when driving up steep hills and going at highway speeds. The actuator vacuum switch engaged when the transfer case vacuum switch sends the vacuumed air to the actuator. What is happening is their is either a leak in the vacuum lines, a faulty actuator switch, or a faulty transfer case vacuum switch. When the jimmy has enough air pulling in, the extra vacuum is trying to push the actuator switch in when it is not supposed to. It is a much cheaper fix than a transmission. GMC should have recalled the whole 4wd system on any of the S10's, the JImmy's, and Blazers.
