Yes, but remove the battery, and take it to any parts store, as most will test it for free.

My 2002 Jetta TDI wont Crank

Check fuses first. Crank/start fuse. IF that's good. Find the starter and hit it with a hammer or rod/pry bar as some one tries to start it. If it starts, replace the starter. It has a dead spot in it. If it doesn't, try jumping the small wire to the big wire. It will arc, but if it doesn't turn replace the starter. If it does turn, check the small wire for power when turning the key to start. No power, go to the crank fuse and check for power when trying to start, still no power. Then it is a break in the wire from there to the ignition switch. Or the ignition switch is bad.

I have a 2002 jetta 2.0 4cyl 4dr, my problem is when I try to start the car it back fires thru the intake? What could be causing this to have. The car has sat for over 18 months due to a transmission

sitting for so long it is possible that an inlet valve has seized in the slightly open position. on starting it may have bent the inlet valve if it was stuck. Might have to have a compression test done to see if there is a valve problem

2002 volkswagen Jetta wont start or crank, when you turn the key the cars does absolutely nothing. No lights come on or anything. Then it will start if you leave it sitting for a while sometimes, but when...

It's possible you could have an intermittent problem with ignition switch. If the battery and alternator were tested and came back fine there has to be a bad connection somewhere.

2000 jetta. drove home and all was fine. 2 hours later, I try to start the car and nothing happens but all lights, dingers work fine. Battery is 2 months old. Any suggestions, please? I'm missing...

put the car in neutral and push down the clutch. turn key to start and hold there. While holding slowly let clutch up and see if it catches, if so you have a worn safety switch which happens on those. Good luck!

My 2006 pt cruiser wont start, no lights or radio. nothing? when i turn key nothing happens inside or out

Check the battery terminals for corossion. Look for the chalky white powder which is a tell tale sign. Simply move the cable connectors back and forth a few times to loosen corossion and provide a better contact. Have you checked your fuses. I probably spelled corossion wrong, sorry.

Car wont even turn over batt is good 12.45v

The Water light? you may have over heated the car, also you may have caused a crack in the engine block by driving the car after the Temp light came on, Check the Thermostat, This may have caused the Light to come on and can cause some major problems if not replaced. Good luck!

Driving jetta hit the brakes, tried to use gas and nothing happened. pulled off the road, shut the engine off, tried to turn it back on and nothing happened

You need to be more descriptive. What did the car do when you pressed the gas. Did it bogg or do absolutly nothing. Did the lights on the cluster come on when you tried to press the gas

Vw jetta wont let me start it

It's an ignition problem. If you keep trying to turn over it will start. It's an anti theft device they installed. The little car with the flashing key. Someone likely tampered with your ignition before for this to happen.
