The fuel pressure regulator is rarely a separate item and is usually to be found mounted at the end of the fuel rail and the fuel return line and a vacuum line is connected to it.
Better have the fuel pressure checked for starters. Even though the pump comes on, your fuel pressure might be too low. Lots of GM vehicles are finicky about proper fuel pressure, especially at start up. It could be a weak pump or failed fuel pressure regulator-a pressure test will sort it all out.
The fuel pressure regulator on that Vortec engine is under the upper intake plenum, on the back side of the central fuel injector. It is held on with a slide clip.
The fuel pressure regulator on your Safari Van with the 4.3 Liter Vortec is located inside the upper intake plenum.Your intake plenum must first come off before your can access it.This is about an hour job for the skilled technician, add a little more time for the diy'er.Hope I could help!!!!! Thanks!!!
DO'ES THE VAN TURN OVER ? DO'ES THE VAN HAVE THE FUEL PUMP RUN LONG ENOUGH TO BUILD FUEL PRESSURE?IF YOUR FUEL PUMP AND STARTER ARE WORKING THEN CHECK FOR FIRE TO THE PLUGS. YOU MAY NEED TO GET THE CODES READ TO FIND THE PROBLEM IF YOU HAVE FUEL AND FIRE.ONCE YOU GET THE STORED CODES,REPLACE THE SENDER THAT CAUSED THE CODE OR REPAIR THE WIREING TO IT.
had this problem on my neighbors 98 chevy truck with the same engine !!
it turnd out too be the fuel pressure regulator, you have too pull the upper intake too replace it!!
It is part of the fuel injector inside of the intake manifold. You have to replace the Injector Assembly which is called the "Fuel Meter Body Assembly"
