Place your body weight over the strut and push the car up and down,a bad strut will give no resistance and will feel soft, as the car will do when driven over a uneaven surface.come back to me with result and i will tell you how to replace.adrian,,,,

92 chevy c1500 shakes when braking or hits a bump

Thats called a shimmy. And you have shocks instead of struts.
Chances are you have a ball joint or tie rod end about to fail. Something is very loose in the front steering or suspension. I'd put money on it being a ball joint.

My jeep front tires shake bad when i hit a hole or bump in ther road but not all the time why???

First of all have a look and find which side the tires are loose, is it vertically loose or horizontally loose, by the way you can do it by jacking the car and shaking the tire with both hands, vertically and horizontally. they should not have free play at all.

Have a raddelling noise in the front suspension Audi A4

its sounds like possible stabilizer bar links also known as sway bar links. some links have a ball and socket style(more than likely yours are) not sure what theyll cost for an audi a easy test just grab a hold of the sway bar and shake it up and down you should feel any slack and might be able to re create the noise but youll have to be under the vehicle to really shake it . although its possible you need struts and/or mounts if its been a while or never done bouncing the car up and down with the hood open should show the strut bouncing if the mounts bad hope this helps good luck

I have a loud clunking noise coming from my 2002 saturn sL1 only when I go over bumps. I installed new struts but still the same problem. I wasn't sure how to isolate the front end components to check for...

I assume the control arms are the same for the 02 as on the prior SLs back to 91. I have had this same bump noise problem on 3 saturns and found it to be the rubber grommet in the control arm where the sway bar is connected. If you jack up the car and get under there with a long pry bar you can pry the sway bar end around a bit and find some play in it to check this. Also indication of this grommet being bad often the car mimics a bad CV joint by making a click when going from D to R or R to D. The grommet is cheap but not an easy repair as the control arm has to be removed. Could make more sense to replace the whole control arm and get a new ball joint as well.

Check your wheelbearings for play and your tierod ends for play,I'm sure one of these two are at fault.

Sliding noise in trunk

These cars have struts inside the springs. When the struts fail they start to make a noise that sounds like your problem. Also the strut mounts will make a terrible racket. Have these checked and replaced if needed. Hope this helps. Good luck.

96 Saturn SL steering box shot?

Well, it is easy to test the struts. 1st look for oil deposits around the strut tower. 2nd push on the vehicle's bumper or hood, down with your weight. See how many times the vehicle bounces. It shouldn't bounce more than 1 1/2 times anything more than that might need replaced. As for the gear box...I think you got that right...needs replaced.

Are my struts out on my 04 Saturn ION?

I agree. I see sway bar links go bad and make nosie much more often than struts on Ion's. Take it to a service center you trust.
