Begin by checking voltage (with a volt meter) at the battery terminals (part of the battery not the connectors). Voltage should read somewhere around 12volts (a volt above or slightly less is OK, but not lower than 11.9) Then move the positive probe to the connector and check, again, move the negative probe to the connector. Leave the probe at the positive terminal and check voltage between the block and the battery by touching the negative probe to any metal part of the block. Continue working your way down the harness on the positive side, checking volts at the power distribution center, fuses and at the main battery connection on the starter. As you get further from the battery the voltage will be slighty less but you should not see a radical drop. If you find a large drop or no volts at all where you'd expect to have a reading, stop there and find the cause.
Chances are the connections on the battery are bad and you won't have to look further than that.
If battery is not at the proper voltage, re charge it and then put the meter on both terminals and check running voltage. It should be at least 12.9 to 14 volts running and should not drop below 12.5 with all accessories on including the lights. If it does, check the alternator and drive belt.

Engine will only run if gas pedal is pressed all the way

A new battery is a lot less expensive than a big tow bill, for sure. . that is how I would approach the problem

My jeep won't start or even turn over

you need to check the voltage at the battery when you have trouble. should always remain above 12 volts.
If not then the battery or the connections are bad. first test the battery right at it's lug terminals, then check the terminal connectors. battery or cable or connectors - def sounds like major voltage issue in the battery area!

I just bought a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4, with a 4.0 Eng. and an automatic trans w overdrive(4spd). Awful clicking type noise after bad dark oil drained and tried to replenish trans fluid. WQon't...

No I don't think so. You could take the starter out but you would only see the flywheel, the flex plate is on the other side of it.
Probably have to take out the gearbox.
Did you take off the oil pan when you changed the oil. Filter may be blocked.

I recently had my 96 jeep into a shop becasue of a hard start. Thinking it may be battery or starter. Both of those passed tests just fine and ait actually started great for a week. Today it barely started...

Does your check engine light illuminate on the dash, when you turn the ignition on, right before cranking? If it does not light up, at those times when it's hard to start, then the main ecu might be in need of repair.

Sounds like a short in the electrical system. Maybe even just a loose ground wire. On the other hand...It could just as easily be a bad ECM (BRAIN)! Warranty still in tact? I hope so. Diagnostic at a certified Jeep shop... Good Luck!

Won't the diagnostics tell you if your computer is bad?

they are definetly trying to rip you off the crank sensor should run about 175.00-225.00 to replace and the computers are nowhere near 2000.00 take your jeep somewhere else fast
