SOURCE: #1 spark plug wire for 83 Chrysler 5th ave 318

On a 318 #1 is at 6:00 o'clock on the distributor when you are looking at it from the front of the car. It turns clockwise and the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Odd cylinders are on the driver's side starting from the rad and even on the passenger's. Hope this helps.

Trying to figure out what the name of a part is

That would be the ignition coil, the part that creates spark at the spark plug. If you follow the electrical path from the coil wire to the distributor cap, and from there, the spinning rotor just under the distributor cap carries the path from the coil wire at the cap's center to the spark plug wires around the dist. cap, and through the plug wire to the spark plug.
The high voltage causing the spark is created in the ignition coil by the engine computer at the precise right moment signaling an ignition module to cut 12 volts current to the ignition coil. This causes the coil to internally build up high voltage which is passed through the coil to distributor cap wire. The computer knows the precise right moment to initiate spark from engine sensors, primarily the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor.

1987 Bronco II 2.9 Engine. Had it for 10 years with the same problem the whole time. Runs fine while the weather is warm and dry. Once the humidity or temp changes, or the rain starts, it loses power, bogs...

Have you changed the distributor cap? A crack in the cap will cause moisture to gather and cause spark issues. Give the cap a very thorough inspection and also your wires. You may have poorly insulated boots on the wires and the spark will ground out. I had this issue and I looked at the engine at night in the pitch black. I found a plug wire arcing to the distributor base because of a bad plug wire. The truck lost power when the weather was moist. I hope this helps.

97 gmc 2500 5.7l vortec, won't start, fuel pump works, tried using starting aid and nothing, hooked up a scan tool, and no errors came up, could it be the crank position sensor? or the distribution centre...

See if you have spark on at least two plug wires. If you do, but it is weak, you may just need a good tune up (plugs, wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor). If you don't have spark or it is only on one wire, take the distributor cap off and see if the distributor is turning while someone turns the key. If it doesn't spin, you need a distributor because the bottom gear is broken or stripped. If it does spin, then it could be the coil, ignition module, crank sensor, fuse or wiring to any of these parts. It will take a lot of wire testing and diagnostics to figure out which part it is if it isn't just a simple tune up or distributor.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

I had the same problem with my 85 cj7 this week, I relpaced the ignition control module, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and the the coil; still had no fire to plugs. the problem turned out to be my distributor, replaced it today and she fired right up. Most likely it was the pick up module in the distributor that went bad.
