1997 Voyager Van Stalls then Starts

My 1997 Plymouth Voyager Van (3.0 litre) will stall a couple times per day. It can be at freeway speeds, or at idle. Mechanics can not diagnose it because it has to be driven for a while, and they just let it idle or drive it around the block once or twice. It may start right up after the stall, or it could take 15 minutes or more, but eventually starts. Spark? Fuel? Please help. engine stalls when letting off gas pedal and sometimes coughs when driving

Most of times stalling problems are related with crankshaft sensors have your crank sensor replace and see if this will take care of your problem

the sensor goes between the transmission and the motor and

close to the firewall if you said you have a mechanic but they cant diagnose give them a call and ask them for the location of crank sensor or just take it to them to have it replace.

the crank sensor is atached to the transmission hosing.

97 voyager 3.0L stalls at stops and turning shows running rich

You may have two different problems.
The rich mixture could be several things including a faulty O2 sensor or leaking injector. If a sensor fails it should set a code in the computer.
The stalling could be a dirty throttle body or a problem with the idle speed control valve.

Starts but stalls

Possibly the Idle speed is incorrect, you may refer to the VECI label. It's located under the hood on a machined pad on the front of the engine.

1997 grand voyager stalls in reverse

my 97 Plymouth Grand Voyager used to stall when I backed out of my driveway and would also stall comming to a stop light or stop sign. Remedied it by replacing the EGR Vacuum Valve little black round disc looking thing that attaches to the intake located just to the left of the brake fluid resevoir (three vacuum lines and an electrical connector holds it in place) Yw Kevin C. I have a 1994 plymouth voyager and it stalls.

I had the same problem with mine. It ended up being the catalytic converter was clogged.

Have someone get under the van and rattle (kick, hit with hammer or something) the catalytic converter. If you hear a "rattleing" sound - then that's your problem.

Idle problem for a plymouth grand voyager 94 3.3 v6

try this procedure it will help wit the idle, don't know about the overdrive issue.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
