My sons1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee had the gauges light on and would not start like battery was dead. Had it jump started and it started. When he put in park it stalled jumped again and worked.

Sounds like a charging system problem and the alternator may not be working. The gauge light will come on if the charging gauge is showing low so you will look at the gauges. Have the battery and charging system tested

Battery gauge moves

check for belt tightness it sounds like the belt is slipping or the idle rpm is too low (near 500) to keep the alternator suppying enough power to run the car(or it is too small amperage alternator for the car anyway..) get tested for free at autozone or parts store..

Ac low pressure valve side port

ok, are you saying the low pressure switch indicates. pressure is low?
that is the switch is open? THIS DISABLES the A/C clutch.
state if compressor spins or not, state full symptoms ?
Guess 2:
or the gauges, you are using, show low pressure running, with A/.C full blast, ' and compression spinning at full speed?
if yes, and did you read the papers with that gauge?
it tells you how to conduct this simple test. did you?
and shows how to add Freon. (steps)
do not over fill it.

Check gauge/low voltage

May or may not throw a code, have you had the alternator checked, this sounds like a bad alternator and also you charged the batteries but have them tested also, this sounds like an alternator problem.

What does it mean when the check gauges light comes on

The "Check Gauges" light means pretty much what it says. When this light comes on, it is because one of your gauges is not operating within the "NORMAL" range. You need to look at all of your gauges to see what is going on. It could be low fuel, low oil pressure, high temperature, low battery voltage, or whatever else your instrument cluster may be equipped with for gauges.

Most people do not pay a lot of attention to their gauges because bad things rarely happen. This light is designed to get your attention and MAKE you look at your gauges because the computer system has determined that SOMETHING is not right with them.

Check gages on jeep grand cherokee

If your "Check Gauges" light is on, the light means pretty much whay it says...CHECK GAUGES! One or more of your gauges is/are reading outside of normal operating range. You could be having an overheating problem (Temperature gauge near or in the red) You could be having a charging system problem (Battery or Amp gauge reading in the "discharge" or "low voltage" area.) You could be nearly out of fuel (Fuel gauge reading near empty) Your oil pressure could be low (OIl Pressure gauge reading very low)....You have to look at your gauges to find out what is going on that is not normal.

The truck f 150 ford dont star was un used for long time aroun one yaer and now said check gauges what is that?

The check gauges light will come on when one of the gauges is not in a normal range, either low fuel, low oil pressure, over heating, or low battery. Since the truck sat for so long, my guess would be low battery.

Low battery gauge indicated

Not necessarily, this can also be caused by poor battery cable connections or a bad battery cable or a bad connection to the gauge or just a bad gauge.Check or have them checked first, and then have the alternator output tested,a voltmeter connected at the battery posts should measure 14.5 to 14.8 volts at an idle, any lower than this than the alternator is the problem.

The red gauges are on. what does that mean

if a light with word gauges lights up it means one of his gauges are out of range warning of a possiable problem such as low voltage, overheating, low oil pressure etc, it's the manufacturers way of getting your attention before you let car self destruct, could be as simple as low fuel.
